SM-24 Molerat

"The SM-24 (commonly referred to as the Molerat) is an entry-level mining submarine. Its small form allows it to manuever through narrow passageways where other vessels cannot, and proves to be fairly defensible against small threats. Its frontal ballast is widely hated due to its inconvenience, but provides an excellent crumple zone for inexperienced captains which are plentiful on Europa. Tier 1, campaign intended. "

This sub was created as an alternative to the Dugong, filling the role of a tier 1 scout. Compared to the Dugong, the Molerat has a deconstructor, slightly higher top speeds, and a more vertical layout but also handles flooding worse and lacks a discharge coil. Its frontal ballast is an interesting feature, aswell as its pseudo-airlock to enter it. Fortunately, this serves to create a buffer between a compromised frontal zone and the rest of the submarine which means crashing into an ice spire at full speed is slightly less dangerous. The Molerat also features a dedicated status terminal like other SM-series submarines, and has minimal "smart" systems to provide a vanilla-like experience.
