Delta Maverick

Description
Background

The Delta Maverick is the end result of what once was merely a desire to become familiar with Barotrauma's in-game submarine editor. After getting my feet wet in my multiplayer group's first sub, the Barsuk, I began to see all sorts of little things here and there that I knew I could build on and improve with just a bit of work. Naturally, many such improvements are found in higher-tier vanilla subs, but not all, and I still wanted to try my hand at implementing such things myself. Months later, I had waded neck-deep into GitHub issue posts, Reddit and Discord discussions, and bonafide XML modding: far deeper than I ever originally intended to go.

What started as just a sub to practice engineering on ultimately became a complete creation I knew I couldn't keep from posting on the Workshop. So here it is, the Delta Maverick.

General Info

As can readily be seen, the Delta Maverick is simply a modified Barsuk. Many of the original components are more or less the same, though numerous improvements and additions have been made. Furthermore, the Delta Maverick is registered as a Tier 3 sub, allowing for upgrades beyond what the Barsuk can take, and sells for a mere 10,000 marks, allowing it to be used as a starter sub in singleplayer campaigns. Many of its added features, all listed below, were designed around those looking to sail completely alone (though I know such players are few and far between). However, it would still be a good fit for crews of 2 or 3 and should also be relatively bot-friendly.

This sub makes use of my Auto Operate Toggle Turrets mod. Please make sure it's installed and enabled so the turrets and wiring all work correctly. (The turret mod does NOT force all turrets to have AO on, it only makes it more accessible.)

Features

Increased Firepower
Most notably, the dorsal and ventral turrets have been upgraded to large hardpoints and 2 discharge coils have been installed to help with major blindspots. The supercapacitor has been tuned up slightly to compensate.

Toggleable Auto Operate
Each of the 3 turrets has Auto Operate enabled, allowing them to move and fire completely on their own. Furthermore, Auto Operate can be toggled off and on at any time from the Navigation Terminal. This is made possible by my AOTT mod mentioned above, designed to combat the awkwardness and bugs currently surrounding Auto Operate. Note that this makes Auto Operate available on every turret in the game, but all start with it off by default. This also means that each turret can be swapped and Auto Operate will still be available. See the mod's description for more details.

Multi-Linked Periscope
The periscope in the command room has access to a searchlight directly above it (outside the sub) and each of the turrets. Press the button next to the periscope to cycle through each fixture.
(If a turret is swapped and changed, the corresponding memory component at the very front of the ship will need to be changed to keep the text display consistent with the new turret(s). Neither the text display nor the visible memory components affect the periscope's function in any way.)

Radio/Wifi Steering
The sub can be given steering directions via a designated Radio/Wifi channel over chat. In short, typing "X,Y" to the channel in the chat box will give the sub directions as though it had been given that vector as a manual input on the Navigation Terminal. For example, sending "50,-25" to the channel will cause the sub to start moving half speed forward and quarter speed up. Typing "lock" will set the Navigation Terminal to only accept commands from the chat, disabling the terminal's touch screen steering and overriding the autopilot. Typing "free" will set it back to normal. See the standalone assembly page for a more in-depth explanation of this feature.

The designated Radio/Wifi channel for this remote steering can be changed by interacting with the Wifi component to the right of the Navigation Terminal.

This feature obviously has rather awkward setup and execution but is designed as a simple way of steering the sub remotely using strictly vanilla components. If you don't care for this at all but still want remote control of your sub, then I highly recommend using this mod instead.

Reactor Controller and Fuel Monitor
The controller assembly (above the reactor) causes the reactor to auto-adjust its fission rate and turbine output much faster than normal. This is based pretty much entirely on ignis' guide . The memory component on the left determines the "fuel efficiency" of the reactor, currently set to 80. The one on the right must be set equal to 1% of the reactor's max power for the assembly to work optimally. This value should be updated if/when the reactor is upgraded or if you employ an Enginner with the Buzzin' talent.

The fuel monitor/alarm (left of the reactor) displays the current total fuel percentage remaining in the reactor and sounds an alarm when it drops below a certain level. The memory component on the left must be set equal to the number of fuel rods in use. The memory component on the right can be set to any desired percentage threshold for the alarm, i.e. giving it a value of "15" means the alarm will sound when less than 15% fuel remains.

Ballast Tanks
The formerly-singular ballast tank has been split in 2, allowing for maintenance on one while the other continues functioning. Furthermore, both ballast tanks have emergency ballast flora levers installed. Pulling the lever down holds the hatch open, disconnects control from the Navigation Terminal, and force-drains the ballast tank. For wiring and installation convenience, all ballast control has been routed through Wifi. The channel can be changed by interacting with the Wifi components next to each lever and under the Navigation Terminal (make sure they all still match!).

Miscellaneous
> The sub's overall storage has been expanded with multiple secure cabinets, a second cargo rack, and a lot more ammo shelves.
> The toxin cabinet and all of the secure cabinets have been re-coded to accept any crew ID, meaning you don't have to play as a specific job just to have access to them.
> The sub has been fitted with a deconstructor and both fabricator types. Both fabricators have linked cabinets next to them.
> The airlock has been improved slightly so that both doors are never open at the same time but opening either door still only takes one button press. Available as a standalone assembly here .
> The sub's interior lighting has been improved in terms of visibility while using even less shadow-casting lights than the Barsuk does.
> Smoke detectors have been installed above the reactor and junction box areas.

Even if it's not the best sub on the Workshop, I still hope you enjoy making use of my passion project.
Any and all constructive criticism, questions, and requests are welcome and appreciated.
