It's time to go home



Representing almost three weeks straight of work is a semi-faithful recreation of deltarune's Light World, or Hometown as I call it.

Every inch of the exterior has been recreated in 3D (with some concessions). Not only that, but every building that featured an interior in deltarune has one here too! Walk from Toriel's house to the school seamlessly, listening to music from the actual game. There is almost no stone left unturned!

And when you get bored of the light world? Take a trip to the school's utility closet, and you'll find yourself in the Castle Town. With its exterior given as much love as the rest of the map. Featuring custom particle effects and a large, ominous fountain looming in the distance...

the reason is simple: Work like this is made by people who know the engine, or entire teams, and stuff like that takes a lot of man hours.

It's usually not worth it from a time / cost perspective.

you just need blender source tools and the requisite know-how to write a sufficient QC file with an SMD model + collision. It's not hard, just annoying and tedious.

Notes about my models:

- Solid color with detailing coming from the actual sprites
- loads materials from models/deltarune folder
- Newer models include baked AO
- usually include an outline created with the solidify modifier in blender that's facing out and pointing to a material called "black"

Textures:

- Point filtered (only way to achieve pixel art)
- BGRA8888 format (no DXT5 compression, you can use DXT5 for higher res mats)
- Sprites are not stretched. Ever. Anything that doesn't fit into a power-of-two format has empty space.
