Description
IMPORTANT: For the time being, in order for this map to work properly, you'll need to switch to the Chromium beta! Loading the map on other betas or without betas at all will cause crashes while loading into the map. To switch to the Chromium beta, go to your library, find Garry's Mod, right click on it, and select "Properties." When in the menu, select "Betas" and click on the dropdown menu and choose "x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries."

RECOMMENDATION: You can type "mat_specular 0" into the console if you're seeing strange or broken reflections on certain surfaces.

Anyway...
Welcome to gm_zombies! This map spawns in zombies on its own so you don't have to. It also has supply crates, mounted guns, and some other cool things. Here's how things work around here.

• SPAWN - The spawn area of the map is where you can prepare yourself or wait for your friends to join without having to worry about enemies getting inside (just so long as you keep the door closed.) Here, there's also a ladder that leads to the map's control room. Down there, you can decide what zombies you'll fight against, when they will spawn, and whether or not mounted guns, supply caches or turrets will be there to aid you. (Note: This guide assumes you have supply crates, mounted guns, and turrets enabled.)

• CENTRAL AREA - Coming out of the spawn area, you'll see several small buildings, each with their own specializations.
• Just outside of the of the spawn room, there's a big brick building, which is a great vantage point against zombies. This one building has three mounted guns, one on each floor. This building also supplies AR2 ammo, AR2 alt-fire, and crossbow bolts.
• Turn left from the spawn area, and you'll see a garage. The main attraction concerning the garage is the huge hole in the ceiling which serves as an entry point for zombies. In the garage, you'll find grenades and pistol ammo.
• Keep going past the garage, turn right, and the next building you'll see serves as a major point for resupply. Here, you'll find health and suit chargers, SMG ammo, SMG grenades, and shotgun ammo.
• Go past the resupply building, and you'll find a building with a mounted gun and a crate of .357 ammo on its second floor. From there, you can also hop on top of the resupply building. This building also contains 5 turrets you can strategically place around the map.
• Past that building, turn right before the breach in the fence and you'll be on a wall with a couple of mounted guns, one facing into the central area, the other, out. On the inner side of the wall, however, there's a large breach where zombies can get in.
• Following the road going out of the garage, there will be a tunnel that has a big door that will open on its own when you get within a certain distance of it. This door leads to the outer area of the map where zombies will come from. You can stop this door from opening by going on the right side of the tunnel and flipping the lever to the right of the generator.

• OUTER AREA - The outer area of the map is where zombies will spawn and start moving towards the central area. Going into the outer area from the tunnel, when you look right, you'll see a water tower with an old building next to it. This building has RPGs inside of it, but not much else. On the water tower, there's a ladder you can climb up to get to the highest point of the map so you can easily take zombies out from a distance.

• AI NODES & NEVMESH - Watch out, these zombies know where they're going! While regular and poison zombies can only really move around on the ground, fast zombies are able to scale up pipes and jump large gaps with ease. You'll have to move around quite a lot to avoid them!

While this isn't the first map I've made, it's the first one that I decided to upload to the workshop. I've been teaching myself to map since mid 2020, so I may not have much experience. Any praise or criticism is greatly appreciated!

Happy zombie slaughters!

yeah, hammer editor isn't the best experience in the world and trying to install a fully functional mod for hammer is kinda finicky, but hey, the maps that come out of it are the real reward. i've been trying to keep up with education since it's the end of my year, so i'll see what i can do in the coming months. again, thanks for the support, i truly appreciate it

That would be so sick, I followed so I can always see what you make next dude, have fun and don't work yourself too hard lol, I hear mapping is kind of hellish.

Hey! this map is so sick dude. I hope you continue to make maps or update this one. It's actually a pretty fun base infiltration map too, it would just maybe need more trees around the buildings to be more fun for that lol. Good luck on your mapping.
