Fixed Frame Window

Description
Notes :
When upgrading from a vanilla window, be sure to close the window. Upgrading to a mod window with the window open may cause the window to become transparent. If this happens, I apologize for the inconvenience, but please dismantle that window and try to build it again. Thanks to Jaggid Edje for reporting this issue.

Description :
Add three new window types. This window can't open/close. The fixed frame window passes through the light and loses the heat of the room from the window glass. However, unlike regular windows that can be opened and closed, it will be possible to install shelves, freezers, workbenches, etc. adjacent to the window.

It will be able to build once you have completed the "Construction basics" research. New windows have been added to Small Windows, Windows, and Tall Windows in the Housing tab.

New construction recipe:

Metal Fixed windows :
Description: The fixed frame window passes through the light and loses the heat of the room from the window glass. This window can't open/close. but It is possible to place lockers, shelves and workbenches along the window.

Small metal fixed window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x3

Large metal fixed window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x5

Tall metal fixed window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x10

Metal Insulated Windows :
Description: Metal Insulated Windows allow daylight to pass through while the thermal blinds are open. Thermal blinds save heat loss in the room while they are closed.

Small Insulated window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x3 Synthetics x5

Large Insulated window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x5 Synthetics x10

Tall Insulated window :
Research Required: Construction basics
Construction Cost: Metal alloys x10 Synthetics x20

Please ignore my previous comments, I dont think the mod had loaded properly as I now more options available that do what I'm after

I think you misunderstand me, I'm looking for a window that doesn't open or close (like your simple version) but insulates the room. Your simple version doesn't insulate.

@SlayerIce09
Fixed windows are windows that do not have shutters.
I don't feel the need to make shuttered windows version because I think just use the wall.

@Proxyer thank you for the feedback. Would you consider a fixed window (so no shutter functionality) that is both insulated and allows light? Right now my characters don't have windows as I don't care to constantly open and close windows - I have the entire house fitted with air cons so I don't have to worry about juggling temperatures.

P.S.
Incidentally, I had experience trying to implement a window with a similar idea, so I knew the problems with it. :lunar2019laughingpig:

Hello SlayerIce09. Thank you.

The window shutter function actually switches between two types of windows: glass window and window with shutters down.

So if make it the window you want (a window with shutters down that lets light through), that window will not be subject to the on/off shutter. It will be a permanently closed window.

That's probably not the window you want either. Sorry for the inconvenience... Thank you for your understanding.

Great mod, but any chance of updating the basic window (or even adding a new one) so it lets light in (and is insulated) when closed? This way it will mimic real life double glazed windows.

@Demitrious confirm
Im using it with sliding doors no problems
Proxyer  [author] 6 Mar, 2024 @ 12:26pm
Hello Demitrious.
I have confirmed that it does not conflict with Sliding Doors that adds the same window in game.

The only possibility is that the update or download of this mod has failed. Often Steam downloads broken files when you subscribe. The solution to this problem is to unsubscribe the mod and then re-subscribe again. Then, on the game start screen, open the Mod Manager, turn off enable for this mod and return to the start screen. This will remove the Mod from the list. Try opening the Mod Manager from the start screen again and turning the mod on.

The old mod cache will be deleted and the new data will be cached. Please try doing those things and see if that solves the problem. Thank you.
