Wilson's New Horizons

Description
"Wilson's days of surviving in The Constant has made him grow smarter and learn unimaginable things. From tossing torches with a precisely calculated trajectory, to having his magnificent beard keep him even warmer during winter."

This mod introduces a skill system to Wilson, throughout the Player's days of surviving in the constant new entries (aka experience points) will be unlocked and the Player will be able to assign them to different chapters on Wilson's brand-new Scientific Journal!
This mod is inspired from Wilson's Rework over at Don't Starve Together.


New Items
  • Scientific Journal: Wilson has a brand-new journal for jotting down all his latest, scientific discoveries! You can flip through chapters using the right-mouse button on the Journal. There are 4 Chapters (aka skills) that Wilson can use his entries on, the chapters are as follows:
    • Chapter 1: Lightbearer's Endurance. This skill allows any torches, tar lamps, candle hats and boat torches used by Wilson to last longer and have a wider light radius, if maxed out then Wilson can use it to toss Torches and Tar Lamps.
    • Chapter 2: Tool Mastery. This skill allows all tools and weapons used by Wilson to last longer, meaning that they don't break as easy.
    • Chapter 3: Bearded Resistance. This skill allows Wilson's beard to give higher warmth during Winter.
    • Chapter 4: Medical Expertise. This skill allows Wilson to use medicinal items such as Healing Salve, Honey Poultice, Spider Gland, etc. and heal him for more.
    • Transmutation: This skill cannot be erased and will unlock automatically as you use your experience points, there are a maximum of 9 levels to it and will allow the Player to transmute different items into other items (such as gems into other gems, spoiled food into manure, etc)
  • Charcoal Pencil: A true scientist always has a pencil handy on their person! The Charcoal Pencil will allow Wilson to write down new entries on his scientific journal, must be clicked and dragged on an open Scientific Journal and then right-clicked so that the Player can write on it. You can also use a normal Feather Pencil to write on the Journal. The Charcoal Pencil can also be used on Mini Signs.
  • Wax Eraser: An eraser made from those pesky bees! The Wax Eraser can be used to delete all skills from the scientific journal, must be clicked an dragged on a Scientific Journal and then right-clicked so that the Player can regain all skills back and distribute them elsewhere. You can also use the eraser to erase drawn mini signs!

Journal Entries
There are 10 entries (experience points) the Player can unlock, they are automatically unlocked based on how many days the Player has survived, below is listed the amount of days you have to survive to unlock each entry:
  • 9 Days for the first Entry
  • 18 Days for the second Entry
  • 27 Days for the third Entry
  • 36 Days for the fourth Entry
  • 45 Days for the fifth Entry
  • 54 Days for the sixth Entry
  • 63 Days for the seventh Entry
  • 72 Days for the eighth Entry
  • 81 Days for the ninth Entry
  • 90 Days for the final Entry
Remember these entries can always be erased with the Wax Eraser and be reused elsewhere!

Note for Modders
This mod overwrites the following prefab files: torch, tarlamp, boattorch, wilson and candlehat.

@mathem99 Wow, thank you for your nice mod! But i have some suggestions.
1. I have to take a longer time to get 10 points and assign them, however, when i have lived beyond 90 days , these skills (like light endurance,Tool Mastery, Medical Expertise, include "Transmutation") are not useful and helpful in the later stages. So i think If you can change the experience point to 2-3 days per 1 point instead of 9 days per 1 points, it will be better and valid for wilson to survive, since these experience points can not be used or shared in a new save slot like DST version.And it is good to get them in the earlier stage.
2. And in my test, i find that there are no tips about how many levels about one chapter which i have assign. (which dont like dst does.)

hey man i love this mod but mod have really bad bug i don't see any of wilson items they have no icons and i never use journal can you fix that ? pls

I forgot to mention, Tool Mastery also makes weapons lasts longer.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll tell give a more detailed description of each ability below:
Tool Mastery perk increases the tools by: At level 1 it's 12% more efficient, at level 2 it's 18%, at level 3 it's 25% and at level 4 it's 34%
Medical Expertise: Level 1 - 20% more efficient at items that heal, Level 2 - 30% more efficient, Level 3 - 50% more efficient
Bearded Resistance: Level 1 - 10% more warmth, Level 2 - 20% more warmth, Level 3 - 30% more warmth, Level 4 - 55% more warmth.
Lightbearer's Endurance: Level 1 - torches last 16% longer and have a +50% larger radius, Level 2 - lasts 32% longer and has +100% larger radius, Level 3 - lasts 50% longer and has a +150% larger radius.

I'll be updating the description with this information when I have time.

I've started a playthrough with this mod and it's pleasant so far, though I'd definitely like a little more information on specific levels of these abilities. For instance, how much does Tool Mastery perk affect the tool durability on each level?
