"The kingfisher class of ASW Frigates was a push by Zarathustra's department of defense to broaden the navy's anti submarine mesh network, covering oceans coast to coast. it is equipped with Twelve Lancer HSAP-13 air launch torpedoes with a maximum possible range of ~5,400 meters. it has a 32 count VLS Missile system and a remote controlled autocannon as supplementary weapons."
"the torpedos gain such distance advantages because of the DM-PLS (Deck mounted pneumatic launch system) that can quite literally throw the torpedoes further, to allow a head start, and to help conserve initial fuel."
"another thing that is noticable about the Kingfisher's upper superstructure and rear radar superstructure is an array of bright red hot hexagonal panels. this is the T-RWADS, or Thermal based Radar Wave Amplification and Detection System. the T-RWADS assists as a side tool of the radar array, shooting beams at incoming radar waves that amplifies enemy detection radius, and increases the wavespeed of the kingfisher own instruments, increasing efficiency overall. Research and Development came into a hiccup when developing the T-RWADS Heat based radar system. it was constantly melting the baseplates it was mounted on, and in order to not melt it's platform, a zirconium based heat transferrable alloy had to be developed and placed beneath the heat inductors and the thermal plate itself. this alloy is required on all nearby systems and sensory tools and even helps draw heat away from the plates when not in use."
Kevin on the FTD discord was a MASSIVE help to truly improve this ship and make it great, (and to make it float without up props, lol) and this ship couldn't be great without him. He even wrote custom breadboard to replace all the ACBs! also mind that whatever I just wrote does not adhere to the laws of nature or physics IN ANY WAY. isn't fiction great?
