LORE: When the Metalburguese Navy issued an official competition to choose a new air-to-surface attack aircraft, the Metalburg Bureau was about to submit the Mb-62 Cormorant (with a C) as their entry. But then, their corporate spies discovered that Kosmo - Metalburg's most beloved superstar - was called to be the competition's judge. So the Bureau tried to cheat a little: Kosmo's colors and logo were painted on the prototype, and K's were scribbled over the C's on its paperwork. And that's how the Kormorant (with a K) entered the Navy's contest. However, it lost to Lukki Inc's more affordable (and straight up better) Lu-37 Manta. That made the Bureau's engineers very bitter (they never lost a competition in their own nation before), but the airframe wasn't wasted. Instead, it was used as a test platform for a new technology that would soon be dominant in combat: blaster guns.
