Description:

CRN B-145 Lancer II Heavy Assault Bomber:

The CRN Lancer II is the CRN's newest retrofit of the old and dilapidated lancer series of bombers, the Lancer II features a series of end of life upgrades as well as quality of life upgrades. Trading a large crew quarters for more firepower the Lancer II features not one, but two torpedo bays. In addition, the lancer features more firepower, namely its defense turrets, which have been upgraded to modern CRN naval standards. With a vastly improved fire control system the Lancer is able to perform anti-ship duties with great effect.

Lore:

Rolling off the production lines in the 3000's the Lancer II was the result of a CRN mass fleet modernization program, aiming to improve combat performance and readiness. Given the semi-abysmal performance of older aging Lancer I bombers in the Xeno Republic war, the CRN was determined to either find a new design or improve existing models. Initially choosing the former option, the XB-150 program was established, which took up vast amounts of time and money, pushing CRN law-makers to go with the latter and much cheaper option of giving the Lancer and end of life upgrade. Tasking Tenadyne Shipbuilding Industrial Concern and Omega Combat industries with remodeling the Lancer I, both companies opted to completely revamp the almost 200 year old bomber design. Replacing her crew compartment with an extra bomb bay, adding an extra two crew members, new and improved anti fighter turrets, as well as new missiles. Both companies overhauled the design, in a process that would take 2 years to fully complete the design stage. Dubbed the XB-145 II Project, the final Lancer prototype would make its maiden flight in October, 3000. With the full production line being established a year and a half later. To cut down on costs Republic planners opted to have both companies refurbish existing Lancer I designs instead of building new designs. With the first batch of Lancer II's being assigned to the 12th Expeditionary Strike Group. Undergoing preliminary combat trials the Lancer II would surpass every expectation set, with a higher top speed, a better engagement range, and improved flexibility, the Lancer II would greatly improve the original Lancer I's existing design.

Authors Notes:

I've been working on this bomber since around January, I completely redesigned and refurbished my old lancer design, and just gave it an all around glow-up the design in my opinion is really what I was going for with the original lancer, and I believe that I was really able to bring out its full potential in this refurbishment. Anyways, stay happy and healthy and enjoy!

Credits

I should credit the original Aegis retaliator design as my main inspiration for this build.

@Unkn0wn_Guard1an You're right; I have no idea why I thought it was RSI, maybe something with the way the design is from the outside I don't know.

And just like that, the Retaliator Base launched two years behind schedule.
