Starter Kits (41)

Description
Step 1: Define the contents of the starter kits in the sandbox variables. Delimit the list of items with a semicolon. Optionally delimit a quantity with comma.

Step 2: Give your players a starter kit. You can use console commands, the Mini Scoreboard in the Admin Panel, or add it to the item ID to the server's INI file (line 43 by default), the item ID is StarterKits.StarterKit

Step 3: The player chooses which kit they recieve, giving them a briefcase and the defined items. If nothing is defined then it just gives a briefcase. Players will not know what is in a Kit unless you tell them, or they check their console.txt

I can't seem to get the StarterKits.StarterKit ID to work, EXCEPT when using a teleporting mod that allows items to be spawned in upon teleporting. Is there an issue with it still? I read there may have been earlier

@DDdeedeeDD you'd have to send me more information, hit me up on discord. also is the problem that the player doesn't get a starter kit or that using the starter kit doesn't give the items?

Heya,

Thank you for your prompt reply last week, sorry i didn't get back to you.

I've found the PZ Item list and tried using the following list:

Base.Painauchocolat;Base.TunaTin;Base.TunaTin;Base.WaterBottleFull;Base.WaterBottleFull;Base.Torch;Base.NailsBox;Base.NailsBox;Base.NailsBox;Base.Battery;Base.Bag_ToolBag;Base.Hammer;Base.Candle;Base.Lighter;Base.Shotgun;Base.ShotgunShellsBox;Base.ShotgunShellsBox;Base.ShotgunShellsBox;Base.Bag_Military;Base.Aerosolbomb;Base.FlameTrap;Base.Molotov;Base.PipeBomb;Base.AlcoholBandage;Base.Antibiotics;Base.Axe;Base.Axe;Base.Crowbar;Base.Saw;Base.Garden Saw;

I had also tried this list with a comma and a space (for example: Base.TunaTin, Base.TunaTin) between each item too before reading that it should be a semicolon.

Still not sure why I'm not getting any of the items.

Thanks again, D

@DDdeedeeDD so like for box of nails, if you look at the wiki https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Box_of_Nails you'll see the ID of the item, which is Base.NailsBox, not Box of Nails. also add me on Discord if you have it, it'll be much easier to send and receive screenshots. i'm crispychestnuts on there

Heya,

Can you give screen shots, or an example of the text you write in the starter kit option that comes up in custom sandbox,

I've used the following but it didn't work:

Shotgun; Shotgun Shells; Axe; Hammer; Box of Nails; Duffel Bag;

I'm assuming if I wanted more of an item I would put:

Shotgun,2;

Is this correct?

At the moment I'm just spawning with a school bag with a hammer and a baseball bat, and a bottle of water and some chips, which is great, but its not the starter set I chose!

@Scrooble McDooble evidently BikiniTools Server Editions already has this feature for a one-time starter kit https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2784972075

@Scroobles McDoodle sounds like a good feature idea. i'll keep you appraised about if i make progress with that
Scroobles McDoodle 17 Feb, 2024 @ 7:35pm
Well I would hesitate to call it an "issue" since I haven't actually started using this mod yet, I'm just shopping around seeing what's out there and came across this and it seems like it'll fit the bill.

What I'm trying to do is set it so that when players log in to my server they can only create one account per user, no alts. Then set up a starter kit so that it automatically gives players a skill journal on first load-in, but only once so they can't keep repeatedly dying and coming back just to get more journals.

@Scroobles McDoodle i do believe that is possible, tho i really can't even start to look into it this month. if you want to work on it before then, you can copy whatever you would like from this mod. is the problem that you have new players joining when there is no admin online to give them a starter kit via the mini scoreboard or admin commands manually, or just a desire to automate this process?
