Water Park 1
Create a functional Lazy River with 'Water Park 1' in Cities: Skylines! A fully customisable asset pack to create your own Water Slides, Pools, Lazy River and more.

I would recommend watching my Video Guide on YouTube to help better understand the assets, to learn how to use them, and for some tips and techniques on usage. It's the easiest way to learn about the assets.

If you enjoy the assets, please consider donating[www.paypal.com] or supporting me on Patreon[patreon.com], supporting me also means supporting future development of Water Park 1 and Water Park 2 in Cities: Skylines 2 along with other fun and exciting packs I have ideas for. Patreon perks include having an input on future assets, early access, WIP content, exclusive perks such as Patreon voted 'Cinematic Cims' character packs and more. As a thank you, the first 5 Patrons and Contributors who start supporting me, I will create them a 'Cinematic Cim' prop of their choice to put in game.

Mods
As we are modding the functionality quite a bit in order to create a Lazy River from a Ferry service, mods are recommended to have the assets function as intended.

Please consult the full mods list on the Official Guide for Water Park 1 to ensure you have all the mods needed.
Lazy River - Functionality Explained
The Lazy River assets have been created using the in-game ‘ferry’ functionality. This will allow citizens to take the lazy river as a form of public transport.

- Lazy River network has replaced Canal Networks.
- Lazy River Stations have replaced Ferry Stops.
- Lazy River Depot has replaced Ferry Depot.
- Cims travelling on the Lazy River have replaced Ferry vehicles.

Lazy River Station
The Lazy River Station is functionally a ferry stop. I have edited the asset so it doesn't require any services and you don't have to snap it to a road. Citizens will queue up on the side nearest the concrete base and board and exit the vehicle at these stations.

Lazy River Depot
The Lazy River Depot is functionally a ferry depot but it's invisible. I have edited the asset so it doesn't require any services and you don't have to snap it to a road. You can plop this anywhere on the network.

We will be setting the Lazy River up (in theory) in a similar way as we would a standard ferry service, just with a few special assets and tricks to have them functioning correctly.

Lazy River Vehicle

The Lazy River vehicle is technically a ferry, but they look like a group of cims on the river. The vehicle has a capacity of 6 citizens. The color of the vehicle is influenced by the route line color, this adds an unwanted color to the asset. So I would recommend changing the ferry route to a white color.

TIP: As the vehicle has a low capacity - 6 citizens at a time, I've found some Lazy River Stations can get quite over crowded if the route is too popular. So i'd recommend avoiding using the assets on a through route for citizens. Instead try and keep the number of citizens who want to use the assets for transport low by having them provide access to a few unique buildings, parks or crowd generators only.
How to create a Lazy River
1. Locate the Lazy River Station in the Water Structures tab, position this where you want your first 'ferry stop', citizens can enter and exit the transport at these stations.

2. Select the Lazy River network and start to draw out your Lazy River network. Remember this is a one way network only (counter clockwise to the station platform) so you need to have the networks facing the right direction.

3. When you want another station (ferry stop) along your Lazy River, you can either snap the station directly to the network or you can place down the station anywhere you want and then connect the network. Complete the loop back to the start of the first lazy river station.

4. We can now fill the canal with water. Place the 'Fresh Water Source[http//Fresh+Water+Source]' asset centrally on the Lazy River network. Depending on the size of your Lazy River you may want a minimum of 2 (maybe more) water sources equally spaced along the Lazy River to ensure there is enough water throughout.

I like to place the water sources to the left of the stations, so that the water will flow in the right direction next to the stations.

Once you've plopped your Water Sources, select the vanilla water pipes and connect the input and outputs together. Once connected, speed up and play the simulation until the Lazy River fills with water - be patient this can sometimes take a little time. (For more information see workshop page for Fresh Water Source.)

5. Locate the 'Lazy River Depot' in the Water Structures tab. This is an invisible asset which will spawn our vehicles. You can place this anywhere on the Lazy River network.

6. Create a Ferry route on the canals, connecting each of your stations.

7. Choose my 'Lazy River Group 1' vehicle to go on the route. I also suggest using Improved Public Transport 2 mod so you can add as many vehicles to your line as you want. Without this mod, you may only be able to add 1-3 vehicles.

9. (OPTIONAL STEP) If you want citizens to use the Lazy River as a form of Public Transport you need to provide pedestrian access for citizens to the Lazy River Station with either pedestrian paths, roads or pedestrian roads. As shown in the image below, you need to provide pedestrian access near the platform for citizens.

Providing access to citizens is easy but getting them to want to use such a short public transport is another challenge. To solve this I have created 2 sets of pedestrian paths/roads. These include networks like slow paths (1/4 and 1/8 speed), one-way only paths and no pedestrian access paths. By using these in a specific way or by blocking access, you can help influence citizens to prefer to take the transport to get to their destination.

FAQ
Q: This is a lot of information, where do I start?
A: I would recommend watching my Video Guide on YouTube. It's the easiest way to learn about the assets, once you get it, it's easy, but there are a few steps to set them up. The video will help you better understand the assets, to learn how to use them, and for some tips and techniques on usage.

Q: My vehicles keep stopping when they're travelling on the route?
A: This is because there isn't enough water for them to travel across. The water needs to be near the top of the Lazy River all the way around. Either you haven't waited long enough for the water to completely fill, be patient... Or you need to add another 'Fresh Water Source' near the area where a vehicle is getting stuck.

Q: The water isn't filling up?
A: Check your water sources. View them with the water info view overlay. Is the input and output connect to each other? are they lit up blue like in my above picture (this means they're turned on)? Also, make sure you dont connect these to other sources or pipes - only connect the input and output to each other and nothing else.
Known issues
  • Unfortunately, the citizens queue up in quite a narrow space when queuing for the lazy river at the station and this can't be changed due to a limitation of the game. The ferry functionality comes from a hidden network called a ferry dock and despite spending days on testing I was unable to edit a ferry dock network to change the width and position of the platform where citizens will queue up to enter the lazy river. I suggest not making the lazy river too popular for citizens to avoid over crowding at the station.

  • This isn't necessarily a bug, but just how water works in game. But water can leak out if there are lower terrain levels below where the Lazy River is placed. Advise using my lazy river on flat ground or if there's leaks then use them to create a pond or pool - so use them to your advantage creatively.

Do you need support?

Please direct all support requests through my Discord group. I can't have conversations on the Steam Workshop comments section, on Discord it'll be easier to help you, talk through it and figure it out. So far from beta, content creators and discord members we've managed to solve it.

@brongade - assets are now live, thanks for your patience

@brongade im looking into it today. It was 3am when released the assets and i had to wake up at 7am to go to London for the day. I was very tired and no time, but i did a quick ingame test with steam versions of assets and some dependencies failed to load, im not sure why but should be an easy fix. Hopefully be live later today.
