The TLZ-16 Improvised Tank is a modified version of the standard TLZ-09 tank, incorporating specific enhancements to address vulnerabilities and improve combat effectiveness. Retaining the same hull and turret design, the TLZ-16 introduces key modifications to enhance protection and operational capabilities.

One of the significant improvements is the addition of turret armor on the front and back sections, reinforcing these critical areas. This increased armor provides enhanced protection for the crew and vital components against frontal and rear threats, such as incoming projectiles and direct fire.

To address the previously weaker lower side section's, the TLZ-16 is equipped with side skirts. These armored panels provide additional protection to the tank's vulnerable lower hull sectcion, bolstering its overall defense capabilities. The inclusion of side skirts redistributes the armor, creating a more balanced level of protection across the tank's profile and offering medium armor thickness.

Another notable enhancement is the integration of an automatic transmission system. This system enables smooth and efficient transitions between driving forward and reversing, simplifying maneuvering for the crew. The automatic transmission eliminates the need for manual gear shifting, allowing the crew to focus on their tasks and enhancing the tank's overall operational efficiency.



It features a 100mm main battle cannon and 8 shells in combat stowage and 20 shells in the reserve stowage
