Description
Pepe's Wars:

Pepe's Wars is a series of ship collections intended to tell a story, showing an evolution of ship design as a series of wars progressed across the galaxy. Each collection or 'line' of ships was created with a core idea in mind, and the ships within that line are an evolution of one to another, guided by the demands of the wars. Additionally, each different line shows a rough timeline, and you should see how one line becomes obsolete or surpassed by the next 'technological advancement'. For example, the 'beamships' line got out-ranged by the subsequent 'railgun kiters' line, which in turn were beaten out by the 'lensing ships'. Download all collections in the Pepe's Wars series to get the full story in the ships' descriptions.

All ships in the Pepe's Wars collection have been designed for function above form, so please read the descriptions or the ship info in-game to understand my core concepts behind each design. They are not the prettiest ships, but hopefully you will agree they are effective at their roles.

Attack Ships:

The Roguelands systems required a 'jack of all trades' line of small combat vessels that were simple to use and deceptively effective. Using a clever combination of readily-available weaponry, the 'attack ships' were cobbled together, and terrorised outer systems in (and between) the first four wars. Each ship was unique. The range of beamships caused the decline of smaller variations during the second war era.

These ships are supposed to be 'rough-and-ready' multi-purpose combat vessels. Imagine you are a pirate terrorising some poor traders, with disruptors and blasters. Cheap and scrappy, but mostly low-tech stuff.

---
The Ships:

The Astero.
The Astero is a cheap scouting ship, whilst still able to engage targets with dual lasers, disruptor, and a single bow shield. It is not the fastest or most durable ship around, nor does it have hyperdrive capabilities, but it is simple to produce and painless to lose. The Roguelands deployed The Astero for low-priority exploration missions, or for taking out soft raiding targets. This hull is a very common sight around less-reptutable spaceports and black markets, especially during the first war era.

The Firetail.
The Firetail is a nimble ship, relatively inexpensive, with good combat performance. Its cannons offer a wide firing arc around the ship, and the forward shielding gives it some staying power. A disruptor and small blaster allow The Firetail to stay in the fight even when its cannons run dry, or when too far from a port, and the above-average speed helps it to flee when required. Overall, a solid combat vessel with hyperdrive capability whose explosive cannon fire should not be underestimated.

The Ashimmu.
The Ashimmu was produced much later than its predecessors, and was seen in the outer systems much during the third and fourth wars. It relied on outdated technology - disruptors and blasters - but this was not a problem so far from the core. The Ashimmu was a ship perfect for raiding, using the disruptors to disable targets dead in the water. The Gnosis was the bane of this ship's existence, as the symbol of law and order across the outer systems, and many Ashimmus were lost for the sake of piracy.

The Phobos.
The Phobos was unlike the other ships of this line, in that it referred to a single hull rather than multiple. This hull was owned by Sha'Lia Zonin, a renowned pirate of the outer systems, who was able to 'acquire' an intact Gnosis and transfer its railguns onto an expanded Ashimmu, along with a stolen tractor beam, creating The Phobos. Zonin was now able to go toe-to-toe with even the heaviest of law enforcement vessels that would stand against him, and he terrorised the borders of known space for decades.
