Description
Pepe's Wars:

Pepe's Wars is a series of ship collections intended to tell a story, showing an evolution of ship design as a series of wars progressed across the galaxy. Each collection or 'line' of ships was created with a core idea in mind, and the ships within that line are an evolution of one to another, guided by the demands of the wars. Additionally, each different line shows a rough timeline, and you should see how one line becomes obsolete or surpassed by the next 'technological advancement'. For example, the 'beamships' line got out-ranged by the subsequent 'railgun kiters' line, which in turn were beaten out by the 'lensing ships'. Download all collections in the Pepe's Wars series to get the full story in the ships' descriptions.

All ships in the Pepe's Wars collection have been designed for function above form, so please read the descriptions or the ship info in-game to understand my core concepts behind each design. They are not the prettiest ships, but hopefully you will agree they are effective at their roles.

Beamships:

Beamships are precisely what they say in the title - ships with the sole purpose of delivering beam energy to targets. They are simple, clean and to the point, aside from the expensive new beam technology, demonstrating the utlitarianism of those early times. Beamships saw heavy use during the second war to outrange targets, but lost out to rails and missiles in the third.

The Ships:

Coercer
The Coercer is a cut-down version of The Confessor, and as such its armament is lighter and cheaper. Fielding dual single-emitter cannons at range and two lasers for close-combat, The Coercer is competent at all ranges. Worth noting that the shielding and the engines were not touched in the strip-down from its larger predecessor, and so The Coercer is surprisingly fast and well-defended in comparason to its other ships of its size. As such, it can even out-run some larger ships when reversing or strafing. Overall The Coercer's agility was the perfect answer to second-war raiders.

Confessor
The heavier predecessor to its stripped-down varient The Coercer, The Confessor relies upon its dual triple-emitter sniping laser beams to burn enemies from range. Its immense stopping power for its weight class comes at the cost of defences, with its aft half almost entirely vulnerable to enemy fire. Its strong forward shielding facilitates its standoff-type combat, rather than dogfighting. The Confessor was used as a heavy-hitter in fleets at the end of the second and start of the third war.

Omen
The original Omen design was created in the peacetime between the second and third wars. At the start of the third war The Omen fielded top of the line beam weaponry and shielding. Its hyperdrive allows it to jump into the fight once it gets the all-clear from an interdictor, and will slice through the armor of similar-sized vessels in no time. If the enemy gets on top of the Omen then it will melt, so be sure to keep on the move. The Omen was surpassed by kiting railguns during the third war, effectively killing the entire beam doctrine for generations.
