Pepe's Wars:

Pepe's Wars is a series of ship collections intended to tell a story, showing an evolution of ship design as a series of wars progressed across the galaxy. Each collection or 'line' of ships was created with a core idea in mind, and the ships within that line are an evolution of one to another, guided by the demands of the wars. Additionally, each different line shows a rough timeline, and you should see how one line becomes obsolete or surpassed by the next 'technological advancement'. For example, the 'beamships' line got out-ranged by the subsequent 'railgun kiters' line, which in turn were beaten out by the 'lensing ships'. Download all collections in the Pepe's Wars series to get the full story in the ships' descriptions.

All ships in the Pepe's Wars collection have been designed for function above form, so please read the descriptions or the ship info in-game to understand my core concepts behind each design. They are not the prettiest ships, but hopefully you will agree they are effective at their roles.

Minebombers:

The line of 'minebomber' ships was created as a counter to the vast numbers of massive hulls built during the peacetime between the sixth and seventh wars. They use the opponent's inertia against them by making them drift into a minefield. The minebomber ships fly away from the target, inviting the victim to follow, all the while dropping mines that must be flown through.

The Ships:

Tristan
The Tristan is the smallest ship of the 'minebombers', and truly is the bare minimum for the role. Created much later in the seventh war than The Vexor, it cut out any tractor beam or any forward shielding, instead relying heavily on pilot skill to keep it at a safe distance from the target. Ammunition factories were only a feature of larger versions of the role, and so The Tristan must return to base to restock once out of mines. The Tristan is much harder to use than The Vexor that came before it, but it was decided that the decreased cost was worth it for experienced pilots who didn't need fancy gadgets.

Vexor
The Vexor is the cruiser variant of the minebombers. Sporting tractor beam, factories and mining lasers, it is able to replenish itself in the field. Forward shielding helps it to survive the approach better than The Tristan, before it turns to drop mines. Overall The Vexor is a highly adept combat vessel, packing a nasty surprise punch, and catching many targets off guard with its unassuming nature. It was this meagre ship, using a new tactic, that began the decline in larger hulls being used during the seventh war. Titans and dreadnoughts simply learned not to give chase, thus immune.

Myrmidon
A clear upgrade from The Vexor hull, engineers of The Myrmidon were pressed on time to find a answer to the question of targets at extreme railgun ranges having time to dodge the incoming mines. Their answer; widen the ship and bolt more mine launchers at the extremes to widen the overall spread of mines. Extra mining lasers help it replenish its increased rate of ammo usage. Besides that, The Myrmidon is hilariously similar to The Vexor, a clear rush job if ever there was one, but effective nontheless.

Rattlesnake
The primary and most obvious upgrade on this massive ship, in comparison to The Myrmidon, is its sheer width, able to drop a truly impressive spread of mines in the target's path. This version also comes equipped with a huge bank of missiles to compliment the mine-drops, offering the target an awful decision; either be forever bombarded by missiles or brave flying through the field of mines. Four tractor beams will push the target away, keeping it at a safe distance. A single nuke seals the fate of anything able to get close. The Rattlesnake was responsible for the destruction of one of the three legendary Ragnaroks.
