Offscreen Beebox

Description
Have you noticed that your beeboxes are not working when offscreen? Me too and that's why I made this mod! No more staring at your bees so they can make honey.

What is this?
This mod changes the behavior of beeboxes when they're unloaded (offscreen), so they can produce honey even when you're not nearby.
According to wiki[dontstarve.fandom.com] this is already supposed to be a case but the current implementation is so slow and inconsistent that I was not able to determine if it's just too slow or not working at all.
With this mod, beeboxes offscreen will produce roughly the same amount of honey as they would when onscreen with bees, which is half a day for a full beebox.
The production speed takes into account the number of nearby flowers.
In order to maximize the production, you need at least 6 flowers within a 30-tile radius of the beebox.
Fewer flowers will slow the production while no flowers will produce no honey.
Production occurs only during the day and not in winter (just like normally).

Options
If you don't like the current production speed, you can adjust the Production multiplier in your mod settings to your preference.
Keep in mind that this multiplier only applies to offscreen production.

@Thexus 1 honey per day is not enough and usually for that reason I have like 30-40 beeboxes so that I don't need to collect often.
The benefit of offscreen production isn't just that you need less beeboxes and don't need to babysit them but the reduction in lag in multiplayer setting, depending on how good of a server you are hosting.
If you have 4-5 players and there are like 40-50 beeboxes always loaded, that will put strain on the server.

The game's beebox code is so outdated, I don't understand how you can argue otherwise. 1 honey per day is nothing when you have 5-6 flowers for each beebox, currently you only need a single flower to maximize offscreen production and it is very inconsistent and buggy as some of my beeboxes don't produce any honey sometimes and I come back to empty beebox after 10 days of offscreen production while at other times they work as normal.

Thank you for the mod. Definitely a good quality if life adjustment so that you don't have to have someone babysitting your base in order to have them function. If someone doesn't like it, then it is an optional mod That takes no effort to not download and leave the page. I hope you have a wonderful day.

该模组能够解决在蜜蜂箱不在屏幕范围内时无法生产蜜蜂产品的问题。该模组的生产速度会因为附近花数的增减而改变,而模组设置中的生产乘数可以被调整来自定义生产速度。

@Thexus It takes 30 seconds to set up the beebox with flowers, leave the area, skip time with the console, and see it for yourself that it does nothing because the vanilla code is broken, even after 10 years. There are plenty of mechanics that still works unloaded (food spoilage, trees cycle, crops growing, anenemies, etc.). The mod makes the beeboxes one of them. It doesn't change anything related to its "loaded" functionality, bees or flowers. If someone feels like it's too op, they can tune down the mod settings to their preferences.

That post is 9 and a half years old, and wasn't even made for DST, but for DS.

You aren't "fixing" or "tweaking" anything. Bee boxes were always inconsistent, because the fill level depends on the bees working. You can kill every single bee or pick every single flower and get 0 honey per day, or you can micromanage them and get 10 honey per day. The **only** consistent way to produce honey is to have it off-screen, where it will produce 1 honey every day regardless of flowers, weather, season, alive bees, or anything.

Every single thing works like this in DST. They have a timer, and only get updated when loaded. Nothing happens off-screen. This is why the nightmare creature bug happened, because you could unload them in the past. Or this is why you always see the big tentacle respawning, because it freezes off-screen, and the timer only reaches 0 when you load it, and then it can play the animation.

The only thing you did was to buff sixfold an already powerful food source.

@Thexus There are several issues with the current implementation (more details: Klei Forum [forums.kleientertainment.com]). This mod not only fixes these issues but also makes the production speed similiar to on-screen (6 honey/day = full beebox), for the consistency.

???

Bee boxes produce honey off-screen, at a rate of 1 honey/day. The main benefit is that off-screen bee boxes work during the winter and you don't have to worry about bees attacking you in the spring.

On-screen production is different, because it's based on bees going to flowers and returning to the hive. Each piece of honey needs 6 flower visits, so each hive should have 6 flowers. Each bee leaves the hive every 37.5 seconds, up to a maximum of 4 bees per hive. You can speed up up by setting the bee box on fire, which ejects all the bees instantly. Another alternative is to just pick the honey and run, this won't freeze the bees, which makes them produce more honey in the end. You can also use Abigail as a decoy, because when you unsummon her, the bees won't aggro you.

Normal off-screen production: 1 honey per day
Normal on-screen production: about 6 h/d (for an autumn day)
Fire: about 8 h/d
Pick and run: about 9 h/d
Abigail deaggro: about 10 h/d
