Description
W-3115-C1 Apple E

The W-3115-C1E is a short-range AI-guided missile. The main features include proximity fuse and protected warhead.

The protected warhead allows the missile to approach target under direct fire without immediately exploding when hit. Most other missiles depend on destroying their warhead by impacting the target, which can prove disadvantageous if the target is too small, maneuvering or the impact is not strong enough. The W-3115-C1E does not have such weakness.

The mounting point was inspired by and is compatible with Helios M-1 based systems.

What you need to know
Simply print the blueprint. Optionally remove the green bar and attach to Advanced rotor. Missiles are set to charge and stockpile by default. Preferably use the group 3115 *Timer Launch ([missile number] to launch individually or ALL to launch all). Turn on projector and a print a new missile.

How to use in detail
  • This blueprint was created for FS-925 Guided Missile Corvette. It consist of the missiles themselves, the mounting point (merge block and small connector), and a bright green bar which holds the left and right piece together for easier printing.
  • The mounting point includes a projector which holds the blueprint of the whole piece (missile + mounting point) and Advanced rotor head so the missile can be refueled.
  • After launching a missile and printing a new one, the connector will merge automatically once the hydrogen tank is welded above 60%, however the event controller on the missile must be functional.
  • If you wish to disable proximity fuse, there are a few was to do it: Remove the sensor block / Remove the sensor from 3115 *Timer Arm [missile number] (hidden in terminal by default) / Remove 3115 Sensor [missile number] actions.
  • Missiles are numbered so that missile 01 hangs under the left side of the ship and missile 02 hangs under the right side

The connection is different so currently no without adjustments. These missiles are shorter than the earlier A modification so the reloading function also might not work correctly

Can these be printed with your missile reloader?

I have tested against maneuvering wheeled vehicles and it did a decent job. There are just two guidance options for the vanilla AI block and they aren't perfect, A more complicated setup with scripts would probably do a better job. The missile's development was focused on big and slow targets like cruisers or outposts.

Decent job, I like the tiny size. I have tried it as a competing product against my own guided missiles. Did you try it against some enemies? Were you satisfied by the performance? It seems like the target prediction does a pretty poor job when following a maneuverable target.
