The APC features automatic transmission, allowing for seamless transitions between forward and reverse motion. This feature enhances the vehicle's maneuverability, particularly in tight or challenging terrain, enabling the driver to navigate effectively during combat operations.

With its robust frontal armor, the BLZ-09 provides substantial protection for the crew and troops against frontal threats. However, it should be noted that the side armor, especially towards the front, is comparatively weaker due to the presence of crew members and the engine. To compensate, the side armor in other areas is reinforced, offering enhanced protection against attacks from those angles.

The troop chamber of the BLZ-09 can accommodate up to eight fully equipped soldiers, ensuring their secure transportation to and from the battlefield. Additionally, there is room for an additional six troops to be positioned externally on the vehicle, allowing for increased troop capacity when required.

The engine of the BLZ-09 is sourced from the TLZ-26M recovery vehicle, known for its reliable and efficient performance. This engine provides sufficient power to propel the APC while maintaining good fuel efficiency, enabling extended operational range and reducing the need for frequent refueling. However, occasional breakdowns may still occur, requiring maintenance and repairs to ensure consistent operational readiness.

The BLZ-09 features a crew of two members: the driver and the commander/radio operator. The driver is responsible for operating the vehicle, while the commander/radio operator handles communication with other units and command centers, facilitating coordination and relaying vital information during missions.
