1959 Bombardier Ski-Doo

So, for those of you who haven't read his life story (it's a good read) Joseph-Armand Bombardier was an inventor of snow-mobiles. Now, up until the 50's, he'd been mostly making large tracked snow vehicles for crossing the snow infested roads of Quebec, but then the Quebec government was like "Hey, why don't we just plow our roads?", so that put a big wrench in Bombardiers sales.

Up to this point, the small recreational snow-mobile "kinda(?)" existed, but mostly they were limited to motor toboggans, and the few real snow-mobiles that existed tended to bog down in any sort of snow due to excessive engine weight (mind you, this is the 1950's. The U.S. had a huge V-8 crisis going on).

Obviously though, by this point, small, yet more powerful engines were starting to emerge. And this one maple syrup drinking Frenchman decided that it was time to do a genius move. So, after some testing, he threw together the very first Ski-Doo! Or, rather, the Ski-Dog, which it was at first known as, until a typo changed it to the "Ski-Doo", and Bombardier was genius enough to think "Hey, that sounds more sellable."

The original Ski-Doo continued to be sold until 1962, were it was then replaced by a more curvy Ski-Doo in 63'.



Words on the model itself, I did the best that I could, though, the size made it a little difficult. Can carry up to two passengers and handles... Okay(ish). I will note though, it doesn't take uphills very well.
