"Barbaridactylus is proof that the pterosaurs were, if anything, at their most diverse just before the end of the Cretaceous, even as they found themselves sharing the skies with a certain upstart gang of misfits -- the birds. As a nyctosaurid, it might have had a monster crest like its North American cousin, or it might not have. But for the public eye, it doesn't hurt to get a little fancy."
