GrimCore: SND: Be quiet! MegaPack.

Description
Mutes selected annoying/unnecessary sounds from broadcasters, marines, aliens, ambient, weapon, battle music, and more.

Removes voice broadcasters portraits.

Listen to your own music without unnecessary game sounds interfering.
Essential gameplay sounds have been preserved.

Recommended for very experienced players.


General list of mutes
Muted:
  • broadcasters in Jacob's Rest, Nam Humanum and Accident32 campaigns
  • aliens screams: long dying, pain and roar
  • some ambient sounds (e.g. for computers, elevators, alarms)
  • some weapon sounds (currently only looped chainsaw sound (idle loop))
  • some items sounds (currently only adrealine (loop))
  • some HUD sounds (currently only scanner/radar)
  • marines voice lines (except: ammo and medic requests, parasite detection info)
  • most battle music

Suggestions for muting other sounds, please submit in the comments.


Techniques
The addon replaces .wav and .mp3 files with specially prepared files correctly recognized by the Valve's Source engine with a size of 45 bytes for a .wav file and 566 bytes for a .mp3 file.
