I actually created my own backstory for this game before Origins came out. My backstory is... a little different. Basically, the world used to be full of weird creatures that looked like they came right out of your dreams, could live for a thousand years, and lived in harmony with each other and the normal creatures (aka the NPCs). When one of them finally died after their peaceful thousand-year life, they chose a part to leave behind, so that new creatures could appear and use them on their own body to create new creatures. And you, (and other players I guess) as the last of these creatures, have to find these parts and explore the mysterious world, with no remaining creatures apart from yourself and the typical Earth-like creatures, the NPCs.

Made fanmade backstory about dreamlike creatures that lived peacefully for a thousand years and left behind their parts upon death so new creatures could be made. Got OFFICIAL backstory about A MYSTERIOUS GUY WITH A GADDAM SWORD LITERALLY CHOPPING BODY PARTS OFF OF CREATURES WHILE THEY WERE STILL [redacted]ING ALIVE, AND LEAVING THEM ON THE GROUND, AND YOUR CREATURE COLLECTS PARTS AND EVOLVES WITH THEM BECAUSE IT'S ANGRY AT THE SWORD GUY AND WANTS HIM DEAD OR SOMETHING. THE VIDEO WAS IN AN ANIME STYLE FOR SOME REASON AND LITERALLY FEATURED BLOOD SPRAYING FROM THE CREATURES AS THEIR BODY PARTS WERE SLICED OFF. WHAT THE ACTUAL [redacted]. WASN'T THIS GAME MEANT TO BE CUTE? IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A SIMPLE NON-CANON THING MADE PURELY TO ENTERTAIN THE FANS OR IS THIS PART OF THE OFFICIAL LORE? (does this game even have lore?)
