F15E Prototype European One (Clean)

Description
When the F-15 Eagle was designed in the early 70s, the project team had a saying: "Not a pound for air-to-ground". They set out to build the best air superiority fighter and did not want the aircraft bogged down as a multi-role aircraft like the F-4 had been.

By the end of that decade, however, things had changed. McDonnell-Douglas submitted the F15E Strike Eagle prototype as a competitor in the Dual-Role Fighter (DRF) competition, which meant to replace the F-4 and F-111. After several years of testing, the US Air Force adopted the F-15E Strike Eagle and it became the primary air to ground multirole aircraft in Air Force use.

This is the variant of European One pattern painted on the 4 F-15E prototype aircraft delivered to the DRF program in 1981. Note that on this pattern, there is a texture issue with conformal fuel tanks when they are used. No national insignia.
