Description
This mod pretty much does what it say on the tin. Instead of Housing and Entertainment Arcologies you will be able to build new Commerce and Research Arcologies. Also provides special new arcologies for gestalts.


NOTIFICATION (March 2025)

I'm currently burned out on Stellaris and moved back to Crusader Kings. Eventually I'll come back and update all my mods, but I make no promises on the timeframe. In the mean time I give my blessing to anyone who wants to make an up-to-date re-release of my mods. I'd just appreciate a mention as the original creator. Now back to the mod.


WHAT IT DOES

Normal empires will have the following arcologies available:
  • Foundry Arcology
  • Factory Arcology
  • Commerce Arcology
  • Research Arcology
  • Administrative/Ecclesiastical Arcology

Rogue Sevitors will have the following arcologies available:
  • Foundry Arcology
  • Factory Arcology
  • Generator Arcology
  • Research Arcology
  • Sanctuary Arcology

Other gestalt empires* will have the following arcologies available:
  • Foundry Arcology
  • Maintenance Arcology
  • Generator Arcology
  • Research Arcology
  • Coordination Arcology

*Do note that the mod doesn't change who can create an ecumenopolis, so most gestalts will still have to capture one from a normal empire. I just covered my bases for when that happens.

All arcologies now give 9 housing, which increases to 12 with the appropriate Prosperity tradition. Normal empires that take Trickle Up Economis tradition (Mercentile) will also get +3 Clerk jobs on each arcology.

The rare resource used and jobs provided by the new arcologies:
  • Commerce Arcology: uses Rare Crystals, provides +6 Traders
  • Research Arcology: uses Exotic Gases, provides +6 Researchers/Calculators/Brain Drones
  • Generator Arcology: doesn't use any special resource, provides +6 Technician Drones
  • Maintenance Arcology: doesn't use any special resource, provides +6 Maintenance Drones
  • Coordination Arcology: uses Rare Crystals, provides +6 Coordinators/Synapse Drones

COMPATIBILITY
This is a gameplay altering mod and as such it will prevent you from getting achievements.

The mod replaces one file:
common/districts/01_arcology_districts

Apart from that though it should be compatible with everything.

- Commerce Arcology changed from providing +3 Merchants and +3 Clerks to providing +6 Traders.
- Spiritualist megacorporations no longer get Manager jobs from Ecclesiastical arcologies. They just get the normal Priests or Death Priests & Mortal Initiates, same as non-megacorp spiritualists.
- Implemented Virtuality bonus to research and unity jobs from districts.

1. Turns out my issue is the 1280 x 1024 resolution, not the 4:3 aspect ratio (especially given how I'm actually using a 5:4 ratio).
2. I can confirm that the mod works fine with UI Overhaul Dynamic.

I'm using a 1600x1200 screen, if it matters. Orrie has been kind enough to continue to include support for this oddball rez.

Ah. I tried a UI mod once and got a garbled screen, but maybe I was too quick to jump to conclusions. Thanks for the heads up, will give it a try.

I use UI Overhaul Dynamic with my 4:3 screen. It works fine.

I don't know, I don't use UI overhauls. They don't play nice with my ancient 4:3 screen. That said, I don't expect problems.

How does this interact with UI Overhaul Dynamic and the way it organizes district types? I'm sure there's no problem but I just wanted to check if you knew before I test this puppy
