CRN Valkyrie Heavy Dropship

The Valkyrie Heavy Dropship is a heavy dropship platform, it has the ability to carry light vehicles and equipment, in addition to several infantry platoons. Tried and tested the Valkyrie has participated in nearly every significant modern engagement. Landing CRN troops and equipment where they need to be. Functioning as the ultimate workhorse of the CRN. With four nacelles and copious amounts of thrust the Valkyrie can contend even the most harsh environments.

In Norse mythology, a Valkyrie ("chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who guide souls of the dead to the god Odin's Valhalla. The Valkyrie is the CRN's modern example of this, Valkyries present a real tactical gain, enabling the CRN to reliably pick up and transport CRN casualties, and replace them with fresh units. Rolling off the production line in 2870 the Valkyrie dropship has served in the CRN for nearly 100 years, with more comprehensive designs being constructed, the current Valkyrie design is in its flight 10 stage, this level of reliability has never been seen in any other CRN platforms since, serving in every major CRN engagement. Most notably in the Republic Xeno war, where in the battle of Arcadia outnumbered Republic Marines and Army personnel had taken on significant casualties, especially civilian casualties. In the battle of Terra Nova the CRN 121st Army division and the 12th Marine Division were trapped and encircled. With military and civilian casualties mounting the leadership realized they needed to evacuate their wounded. With Republic forces on the back foot, leadership realized the only vehicles they had available to them were 12 Valkyrie dropships. Loading them up with wounded persons the Valkyries flew through a hail of fire to friendly coalition space. Pressing on the two of the Valkyries would lose two aft and one forward nacelle. Continuing their push at 0200 on March 16th 2990 Republic Standard Time a full 48 hours after the departure of the dropships they would finally reach their destination. Unloading the wounded personnel the Valkyries would have to fly back into the city to evacuate more, known as lucky flight 12, lucky flight lead an extensive transport campaign, flying a total of 100 sorties to evacuate the last of the Terra Nova defenders. Two months after the initial operational setbacks the Republic faced the CRN would launch a ground operation dubbed "operation unbreaking will" where the Republic would push the bugs back to there initial landing points, recapturing Terra Nova and its subsequent sector. The 121st Army division and the 12th Marine Division would make up the armored thrust against the bugs in operation unbreaking will. Assisted by Valkyries the 12th Marine Division and the 121st Army Division would live to fight another day, with both divisions seeing combat in every other main engagement of the war, until the eventual surrender of the bugs in 2999.

This ship has been in my blueprints for some time now It's been about a year and a half since I first made it, and I've always loved it, I'm really happy with how its turned out, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. You will have to change the Nacelle orientation in 0g, you can do it in 1g but the nacelles won't rotate properly, otherwise it flies great, it has some trouble in higher gravity with the nacelles pointing forwards, but if you have them facing down you'll be fine within its rating levels. This vehicle is based on the Anvil Valkyrie from Star Citizen, and is my own interpretation of the original design, I made it as an homage to the original, because it is one of my favorite Star Citizen ships.
