Torchbearers - Altis in the Second World War is a project focusing on fleshing out the role of Altis during the Second World War. This modification uses the Spearhead 1944 from Heavy Ordnance Works, as well as Anglo Stahl and Free World Armoury modifications. All are essential to Torchbearers - Altis in the Second World War, and I am immensely appreciative for the fantastic work they have done.

At this time, there are limited British assets available in Spearhead 1944, and as such this mod substitutes where possible. When texture templates are made available for Spearhead 1944 the Altian Infantry Regiment will be reinforced with additional vehicles.

1st Battalion, Altian Infantry Regiment
The 1st Battalion, Altian Infantry Regiment was a territorial infantry regiment of the British Army colonial list prior to Altis' independence. First raised in 1939 following the outbreak of the Second World War, the regiment was comprised of hundreds of conscripted Altians. The regiment first saw service during the North African Campaign, where they played an integral part as part of Operation Torch in 1942. Casualties sustained during the course of the campaign decimated a generation of Altian men. These men were informally dubbed 'the Torchbearers' by the families of the deceased back home, and the name was subsequently adopted as the regiments official nickname.

The Torchbearers would continue to see service throughout the war, albeit at considerably reduced strength. Records indicate that they took part in the Allied landings in Normandy in 1944 and the subsequent campaigns through France, Belgium and the Netherlands, before the regiment was finally disbanded in early 1945. Many of the surviving men of the regiment would go on to serve in Altis' post-independence security forces, imparting the lessons they'd learned during the Second World War to the next generation.
