Description
Overview:

The Lorekeeper, a lowly librarian, attempts to conquer the Spire, but the memories of her late parents affect her choices, even now.


Mod Features:

- Full set of 75 cards
- "Beta Art"-style card art
- Full set of 11 character relics, unique to The Lorekeeper
- A focus on simple cards with straightforward, readable effects

- 2 brand-new Act 4 Bosses that can replace The Heart under certain circumstances when playing as The Lorekeeper
- 4 different ending comics to achieve
- 2 new events to find at ? spaces



Character Mechanics:

Rather than having a single set of 75 character cards, The Lorekeeper instead has three separate mini-sets of 25 cards each. Any time you're offered a Lorekeeper card, the first card of the three is always from the Demonic set, the second is always from the Mortal set, and the third is always from the Divine set.

The Demonic set focuses on gaining Strength, applying Vulnerable, and Exhausting cards.
The Mortal set focuses on Scry, card draw, and generic utility.
The Divine set focuses on Block gain, applying Weak, and a unique effect called Penance.

Penance works similar to The Watcher's Mantra. Play applicable cards to generate Penance. If you attain 20 Penance, you become Holy - a combat-long effect that triples your damage. However, you can only become Holy if you have no Demonic cards in your Draw Pile, Hand, or Discard Pile when you reach 20 Penance.



New Act 4 Bosses:

The Lorekeeper faces a different boss at the end of Act 4 if she meets certain conditions.

When Act 4 begins...
- If >50% of your cards are tagged Demonic, you'll instead face The Lorekeeper's Mother.
- If >50% of your cards are tagged Divine, you'll instead face The Lorekeeper's Father.
- If you meet neither condition, you instead face The Heart as normal.

Both new bosses have a unique map icon and battle sprite, so you'll know whether you're fighting a new boss when Act 4 starts if the map icon is different. Cards you obtain during Act 4 will NOT change the boss you face.

Keep in mind that your starter cards (Strike, Defend) and non-Lorekeeper cards (Curses, Colorless cards) count against you for these thresholds.

Additionally, one of the two new events allows you to choose the final boss that you will face, if you're lucky enough to find it!




FAQ / Some Intended Effects:

- To become Holy, you must reach 20 Penance while you have no Demonic cards in your Draw Pile, Hand, or Discard Pile. Played Power cards and Exhausted cards do NOT count against you. Your deck can have Demonic cards in it at the start of combat, but you must get rid of them one way or another before you can become Holy.

- If you take Broken Crown, you will only receive Demonic cards in packs for the rest of your run.
- If you have Broken Crown + Question Card, you will only receive Demonic and Mortal cards in packs for the rest of your run.
- If you have just Question Card, the fourth card offered will be a random Lorekeeper card.

this is quite a well done mod, the artwork is quite nice and lore and the ideas, but i can't help to notice that this character basically don't have no scaling. some demon cards can do scaling and the other types just lack that a lot. but still is great mod just some balacing issues

WIth 85% of mods, you can tell within a couple fights that they're simply bad - overcomplicated; too much text; mechanics that don't synergize enough; cards that are too narrow and make drafting less fun; characters that don't add enough over the base game characters. Any mod that can hold your attention for a full run is already in the top tier of mods.

That said, I think the commenter below is probably right that the anti-synergy of divine and demonic cards is a bit much. Maybe make it so that each demonic card in your deck lowers your total damage output? Drop it to twice as much damage instead of three times?

Divine cards have too much anti synergy with demonic cards. Going for Pure or Holy build make 1/3 of the character cards pool obsolete. And obtaining a single demon card disable a lot of divine cards effects. Picking either one feels bad. Unless I'm missing something

for the locket relic it says that Kindred has an extra effect on act 4 bosses but i didn't notice any when i used. did i miss something?

Got the fourth ending card. Honestly, great mod! Love the art style, love the ways I can play as Lorekeeper, all around fun one for me.

Pretty sure the 4th end card some people are missing is gained from the Helen fight, since you get to choose between two win cons at the start, either embracing demonic power or cleansing it.
