Description
Inspired by HET's Flamethrower turret, the plasma flamer fires a short-ranged stream of energy that does massive damage to shields. Tear down your enemy's defenses in seconds with these terrifying weapons.

Hey @knifeheart - I've been looking into the logic behind various turret mods we're using on Rusty's US server, and I think I identified why your damage appears so low:

HET's turret tooltip lists the "Damage /s" before taking into account damage type modifications, probably since HET (unlike every other turret mod and the base game) avoids using damage type modifications and directly modifies hullDamageModifier and shieldDamageModifier within the weapon generator.

Since your turret here relies primarily on addPlasmaDamage for its damage multiplication, the tooltip makes it appear to be doing significantly less damage. I suspect (and will test) that if I actually build and use the turret, it will perform much better than it appears on paper.

It's been a while since I played vanilla, but even there I think 70 dps/slot at T37 is pretty low, especially for a low-range specialized weapon.

I'd like to note that I balanced these vs. Vanilla weapons, not HET weapons.

Hey @KnifeHeart, I actually agree that the damage on these is too low. Or perhaps we just need coxial triple-barrel versions. But the damage difference between the available flamers and the plasma flamers is pretty huge. In my experience, plasma flamers generate with so little damage as to be unusable at their tier.

Here's an example at our T37 turret factory on Rusty's US - average DPS/slot for turrets at this tier is 300-400. Average DPS/slot for highly efficient turrets is closer to the 1-2k range:

The flamer is one of the best damage turrets, but it should be given its limitations. It makes a fantastic fighter weapon, but against enemies with impenetrable shields (pretty common after crossing the barrier) I really wish I could make fighters out of the plasma version. Alas, the damage is lower than nearly everything else at this tier.

they do almost 0 damage to shields, listed dps is so low and matches the actual output

I have tried them on Rusty's server they do decent damage, but their tiny range which I have is not adequately compensated by their damage. They are however the most cost effective weapons in the game. As you asked for suggestions, I would give them a small increase to range so that they are still slightly shorter than tesla weapons and increasing their base damage significantly. Hopefully this will make them one of the most devastating weapon for knife fights.
