Radiated Zones

Description
Radiated Zones
This mod was a fun project I had in 2022. Finally I decided to finish it.
The mod is multiplayer compatible.

WARNING
It's recommended to use this mod on a new save/character. I'm not responsible if you lose your character progress.

Navigate through a world with 20 radiated zones using your Geiger Teller, which alerts you with sounds when you enter a radiation area. Equip a Hazmat Suit for full 100% protection, or use Iodine and masks for varying levels of defense. Iodine grants partial protection with a 5-hour duration. Stay safe and adapt to the radiated challenges in this immersive mod.

There is a chance to be cured from radiation. Read below how it works.

Safe start locations:
The following start locations are relatively safe:
Maldraugh, Riverside, Rosewood, West Point

Installation:
The mod doesn't require any extra installation steps.
If you would like to add more or change radiated zones. You can edit the coordinates.txt file which is located in the mod folder.

If you decide to put your own coordinates remember to make a backup of your own custom coordinates file or you will lose it when you update the mod!

You can use the following website to generate a compatible coordinate that the mod can use:
Coordinate generator [atophite.github.io]
Just remember you need to have 4 different coordinates of X and Y.

Required mods
The mod requires MoodleFramework to have custom moodles.
And Speed Framework to make your character move 30% slower with a hazmat suit on! But it's optional.

Recommend optional mods:
Draw On The Map
Draw the radiated zones on the map that you found!

Where's Hazmat Suit?
Is an optional mod. Zombies around hospitals has a chance to spawn a hazmat suit zombie.

Radiation Mod Feature List:
Radiation Protection and Detection
  • Lootable Hazmat Suit to protect from radiation.
  • Functional Geigerteller (Geiger Counter) to detect radiation areas.
  • Lootable Iodine as radiation protection.
  • Geigerteller drains battery, needs 4 batteries.
  • Geigerteller checks radiation levels and becomes unusable when out of battery.
  • Manual inspection of Geigerteller as a backup to sound effects.

Server Mechanics
  • Implementation of radiated zones across the map.
  • Custom text file with coordinates defines radiated areas.
  • Server-sided control for coordinates file to prevent cheating (except singleplayer).
  • Multiplayer compatibility for all mod features.

Radiation Effects and Gameplay
  • Daily chance for radiation cure; failure has a chance to die.
  • Introduction of burn damage when medium radiated.
  • Iodine effectiveness heals 50 RADS.
  • Hazmat Suit nerfed for reduced mobility due to weight and slowness (Use speedframework).

Radiation Mechanics
When player gets radiated the player will get sick. The more radiated the player is, the more player get sick
There are three stages of radiated:
  • lightly radiated (300 RAD)
  • medium radiated (1000 RAD)
  • heavily radiated (2000 RAD)

if player is lightly radiated the player will get 25% sickness.
if player is medium radiated the player get 50% sickness.
If player reach heavily radiated the player will die with 100% sickness.

If player has more than 300 RADS:
  • Die Chance: 0%
  • Cure Chance: 30%
  • Burn Chance: 20%
  • Radiation is Not Cured (No event occurs): 50%
OR if rad is above 1000
  • Die Chance: 5%
  • Cure Chance: 10%
  • Burn Chance: 35%
  • Radiation is Not Cured (No event occurs): 50%

When lightly radiated or medium the player has everyday a chance to cure from radiation.
But when medium radiated also has the chance to die.
The chance of being sick from radiated is X% this will not cure until player hit the luck of being cured.

When player reached cured state the radiation will fall off everyday.
When player reached cured state and gets into a radiated zone again the cure is gone.

Does this work with [...] mod?
The mod does work with most mods. If the other mod adds new mask types or hazmat suits, I need to add compatibility for it. Just let me know.

You can not customize zones on dedicated servers with this mod since client and server data would be different if you just edit the text file..

Hi! I’d like to ask if you’d allow me to expand this mod and tweak some of its settings, as well as the translations. I really like what you’ve created, but I’d love to make a few adjustments. If you're okay with that, I’d really appreciate it. Of course, you’ll be fully credited. Cheers!

The mod works great, thank you so much! However, I have a question... what exactly is the "Dosi meter" item used for?

@Atophite could you make compatibility with susceptible mod? with yours and theirs installed there are two facemask (bandana) options, and it doesnt function clean.

your and theirs are great mods that pair really well together

So my first comment was removing radiation zones server side. custom zones do not work if you edit the same file. Reason is that each client would need similar coordinates in their copy of the mod as well.

for dedicated servers, youre only real option, if this mod creator doesn't want you re uploading the mod privately with the custom coords, would be to make a patch file that overrides the coordinates .txt file. so that every client has matching coordinates as the server file

@Rick Grimes all I did, as per some of the guides (which seem to be for single player). I just went into my PZserver folder, C:\pzserver\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\3019024205\mods\RadiatedZones\media

and deleted the contents of the coordinates.txt file.

I am going to test out further but a known rad zone is no longer detecting radiation so it seems to work that way. Then you can follow the guide in that same, coordinates.txt file to assign your own custom areas.

how do I not specify a zone on my dedicated server? My radiation zone does not work. Could there be a conflict with Zombie Zone?
