Description
do you want a map that honestly kinda sucks to use? do you need that crown jewel of ♥♥♥♥ in your creation that is genuinely hostile to those who try to use it?

okay well i think thats weird but ive also recently found myself there, so i decided to make this.

Its a chart plotting thing whatever thats designed to feel more manual than the usual screen.drawMap(x,y,zoom) thingymabob touch screen that doesnt quite feel at home in your 573rd type VIIc replica.

I made this specifically with a submarine in mind, but im sure it will function on normal boats aswell. no autopilot ♥♥♥♥ you

this will only work with 2x2 and 3x3 monitors!!!!!! (as provided in the examples), as anything with an aspect ratio other than 1:1 doesnt play well with the grid lines, something i couldve designed for but didnt. if you use a wide monitor your warranty is voided also you have a terrible viking curse put on you not sorry

if you want to use this just take one of the examples and slap it in your thing. oh and if you upload it put a link to this in your description or i will f in d y o u

the panel is literal spaghetti DO NOT try to make your own

essentially you hit the key and it logs your current position + additional info on the map. supposed to be kinda like if someone drew it on there. theres a reset switch for if you want to clear your log also.

in a vague attempt to emulate having separate charts i added a pan mode where you can hop between 5nmi segments of map. honestly its kinda cool but that might just be because i made it idk. the normal mode is cool too i guess. not like i spent hours on those gridlines. no its fine

anyway so since this.... thing.. is fundamentally restrictive i have provided some cow tools for you to stumble across the world in. do range circles like that exist irl? i dont know but i couldnt fit any more buttons so itll have to do. for some sickos (me) this adds an additional level of fun as you will have to calculate your travel time based off of distance and speed, made even more "fun" by the absolutely obtuse design of the ranging tool. have fun out there

i havent slept in 30 hours and ive been making this for a significant chunk of that. hahaoeohooheaoheoaohooeohaoeohooohoho aoeh oehoa

big thanks to judgementalbirt for teaching me about a lot of lua concepts that were crucial for this

hey i got the fix, if you want to share it with the rest of the community, it's your work after all, and its beautiful on the inside. i sent you a friend request.

if i can make it do that and add an option for it in the micro-controller is there a way i can send it to you so you can check it and maybe add it to your work?

probably, but i made this thing 2 years ago and no attempt at messing with it since has gone well

is there any way i can set up the script to "start" centered on the curret gps coordinates instead of map origin, without creating a starting point?

it wasn't either of our faults. the map the MC was connected to the gps, but editing the mc to have tooltip number connected to the gps inputs ended up reading 0. replaced the gps unit the module came with, and now its working smooth. i love it.

i can browse the charts and everything looks beautiful, but even if i travel, the map is still stuck right where it is.

i just subscribed to this and the map is locked at 0,0.
i checked the GPS and its fine, power outputs, inputs to the mc are good.
did i break it? cant find a way to navigate the map the plot my points.
