Description
This study shows possible framing patterns for small or midsize ships.

Usage is to consider a frame suitable for your concept of vessel and copy it into your actual build.

The width is derived from the stater spawn area width of 27. Then to have room for hull guards, like tires, 2 is subtracted. This leaves 25 for the upright gunwales. Such a vessel can spawn or at least move into the starter dock.

There are 1 deck, 1 deck plus crawl space, 2 deck and some have keel fuel spaces. Thickness varies from normal 1 block up to 3 blocks.

This is also useful to study when considering other widths.

>>>

When choosing a frame to use consider concepts like:

= Where characters need to move standing vs crouching
= How the boat will behave when steeply rolled
= Where large equipment like engines can fit
= Where heavy objects will go like a full load of fuel

>>>

A standing character is 7 high. As things may stick down from the ceiling walking spaces are 8 or 9 high.

A crouching character is 4 high. Crawl spaces are thus 4 or 5 high.

Bottom spaces only 3 high are intended as fuel storage.

Side wall heights of 3 are there for the option of holding objects like batteries, medium tanks or 3x3 windows.

A character needs a width of 2 to walk which around the center line reflection becomes 3

>>>

1x1 parts have lower friction. Most frames use only 1x1 blocks in contact with the water. A few are trying out wedges on the bottom.

Thickness of exterior is 1 for normal, 2 for protected and 3 for very tough. In game 3 blocks deep tend not to leak.

Some frames have thick sides and bottoms for good protection possibly useful in those doing ship on ship battles.

A few frames have only thick bottoms to provide protection from striking rocks. Although that only will help on a bottom strike not a Titanic style side strike.
