As the Metalburg Bureau continuously fell out of the Duke's favor, their engineers hustled to find a means to win back his heart, sometimes by coming up with solutions for problems they purposefully created themselves in the past just so they would be needed to solve them later. One of said problems was urban mobility, since they were the makers of Metalburg's terrible roads. So they designed a taxi. A tomato drone taxi, to be exact. With Artificial Inteligence! What could go wrong?! So they gave the project a "clever" automation-pun-name to make it hip with the kids, cranked the AI's personality settings up to 11 (leaving no processing power left for actual intelligence), and tried to find someone oblivious—I mean, brave—enough to test the prototype. They found a long-haired man with a goatee in a scrap yard who agreed to enter the huge tomato because he liked the color red. The AI took off and ignored the planned course, going wherever it desired to go. That scrap man was never seen again.
