Armies Of Ulthuan: High Elf Reskin

Description
The armies of the High Elves take to the field with a kitbashed array of new armor and more variety in their appearance so they look more practical while still being lore-friendly and in keeping with the overall Asur aesthetic. No unit stats are tweaked, so all changes are purely cosmetic and this should be fully compatible with your other favorite mods.

Some key things you can look forward to:
  1. More variety in faces and eye colors, so your armies look more diverse and less like clones
  2. Fewer full length skirts—it's hard work moving around the battlefield!
  3. Less pointy helmets for Spearmen and the Sea Guard (and the Sea Guard now have quivers)
  4. Longer spears for Spearmen and Silverin Guards
  5. A fresh look for your Asur legions

The most elite units of the High Elf roster now have more faces in the ranks, but their armor design is untouched. My headcanon is that these units are so highly skilled they can wear more decorative, impractical armor and still be absolute terrors on the field.

@D0tDash and @DocHolliday I found the source of the problem and it seems to come from the vanilla files. In faction_tables you need to edit the tertiary uniform colour from black to white.

@DocHolliday possibly, could be a conflict with another mod that edits those textures or the file structure for the units. I don't use any of the overhaul mods so this wasn't designed to be compatible with any of them specifically.

Could this be making my silverin guard have a weird blacked out texture on their shields? Their uniforms are perfectly fine for some reason the shields are all universally pitch black.

hi @WeenoTM - I've never used an SFO mod so I don't know, and as a result it's not designed with compatibility in mind

Ever since i used this mod with SFO it broke the new blue colors and im back to the base red and blue. Even with this mod off.

Hi @Funk, sorry for not seeing this earlier—I don't use the Hooveric mod (or the Asur Cosmetics mod it pulls from) but my guess is that they've created new units for spearmen, archers, etc. in the game files. This is probably how they've been able to give them faction-specific shield designs. My mod just overwrites the appearance for the default High Elf units, but if another mod is creating brand new ones and telling the game to use those instead of the default files, there may be some conflicts.

Just an update for anyone combining with Hooverics (Because I genuinely can not play with regular HE after seeing these!

Despite moving this file above Hooveric's reskin - It's not applying to all units. Silverin guard for example look fantastic! But regular spearman and archers for example wear dresses still.


Tested by just disabling Hooveric's and everything worked fine. If anyone has found a fix or workaround I would love to know! Great mod

It's a great idea you had, and a superb realization.
It's good and nice to see a mos that takes into consideration the relationship between the terrain and the equipment.
It's not because it's fantasy that you have to do anything.
