Description
This mod adds a new type of Great Person, the Great Philosopher. The Great Philosopher is tied to the Theater Square and has mostly regular effects, rather than focusing upon Great Works like the other Theater Great People.

Boom's Great Philosophers
This mod is a step in a series of planned mods that should rebalance culture and tourism income throughout the game. I dislike how heavily the Theater Square is focused on tourism while culture is also an important part of the game that can't be obtained easily by other methods.

As a result, a series of Great People related to the Theater Square but apart from tourism should be an interesting addition especially as I complete other related mods.

Besides adding the new Great Philosopher class, some minor balance changes have been made to offset the overall buff to Theater Squares. The base GWAM points have been removed from the Theater Square, but in compensation, the Amphitheater is cheaper and gives 2 instead of 1 Great Writer points. Although Humanism is now even harder to boost, some Great Philosopher abilities can make up for this ;).

Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with all other mods. However, other mods that rework the theater square will most likely not account for the rebalancing I have done so either their or my changes will overwrite the other.

Well, seems like there is an issue with the class name, everywhere.
But If I’m alone to have it, it has to come from somewhere else…
Took a look at the files, I’m no coder, but I don’t see anything strange !
I wonder what could create that issue… Another mod colliding, maybe.

Using the mod « Great Person Recruited Notification », the philosopher's class doesn’t seem to have a proper name. Not a big deal, but maybe it’s just a matter of a tiny adaptation ? Would be nice ! https://i.postimg.cc/MZLktsTm/o.png

@boom , this is a great mod and really adds some nice additional features/support to the Theater Square, but LOC_GREAT_PERSON_INDIVIDUAL_BOOM_SALUTATI_NAME (Coluccio Salutati?) appears to be missing from the BOOM_GREAT_PHILOSOPHER_TEXT.xml file (along with any Civilopedia text).

What does Friedrich Nietzsche do? Same question for Friedrich Wilhelm Schelling? Are they just era score, or do they have an ability to activate?

PS I looked up your google doc - theatre squares without a broadcast centre, but otherwise fully built, are not lighting up for Nietzsche...

Could this be because I am playing America (FDR mod) and have film studios instead of broadcast centres?

The philosophers should be able to gain points from both culture and science sites, but at either half the rate or double the cost of other great people.

as far as I know it already is... try it for yourself, i mentioned that crashes and such probably wont happen with other mods


my amphitheater changes will probably stack with whatever he did to the amphitheater in his theater expansion. if what you want is a balanced experience using both mods I'm afraid I won't be able to help because I haven't played with 6t or district expansions so I don't know how he set up his balance
