Description
The Bird That Could

Originally built as a general purpose helicopter as a prototype for a new control scheme, the Conabil is a fairly large two-seater helicopter.

At some point during testing, a magnet frame was developed and attached to the underside of the fuselage, turning the helicopter into a skycrane. With further upgrades and adjustments by CDGP, the craft is now the best it's ever been, and a fairly capable lifter.

[!] Important [!]
This is by no definition an easy helicopter to fly and control, especially in its skycrane role. Due to its size and instabilities in the design it is a fairly challenging vehicle to manoeuvre, line up with and transport cargo: lifting cargo will likely shift the balance of the craft and add to the instability.

It is sometimes recommended to disable the pitch stabilizer system and manually fly the helicopter with the arrowkeys.

This vehicle is rated to lift 1200kg of cargo.
If you want an easy to control recovery helicopter, I suggest checking out my friend's build.

Despite the prototype nature of the design, I've decided to publish this build as it's one of my more recent builds, and despite its teetering issues and instabilities it has been field-tested on the High Seas to good results.

The design is mainly based on the Sikorsky R-4[en.wikipedia.org], but is not intended to be a replica.
