Description
WHI - Flatback

Workhorse Industries introduces the FBK-Flatback mining transport. A large-grid compact truck specifically designed to fit through standard hangar doors for indoors parking. The size limit does take away certain things such as defensive turrets and other auxiliary equipment. It does however carry no less than 40 Small Cargo Containers for a total of 625,000 Liter capacity. A bit less than the 843,750 Liters of the previous MTCL but the compact design might make up for it depending on your needs.

It has one connector in the front and one on the right mounted downwards to give some options for docking with a base. A pair of reverse cams will assist with navigating and the rear wheel steering can be toggled on or off.

Drivers are adviced to use extra caution when operating the vehicle with a low suspension setting as damage to the undercarriage becomes a high risk.
As an extra caution a sensor will automatically engage the handbrake if it detects your ride being set too high to clear through an opening.

The M6 class mining craft is recommended to be used with the Flatback.

Edit: Fixed missing/wrong groups in the Timer Block that should be triggered when docking.

It's the build and repair. Does it to mine every so often too. Mostly on servers. I just set the build and repair to not grind unowned unless I specifically want them to.

nope- not the ground. all four of these i have are mounted up to a base and aren't on the ground at all, and all of them lost their wheels... SE is goofy.
i'm guessing they lose ownership as the build-and-repair recognizes them as "unowned" after they stop functioning, whether they're on the ground or not, then it just eats them

the only time the workaround doesn't work properly is when you've been parked for a while (literally all your wheels get stuck and break off-) or more than one locks up, but that's an easy fix as you can just grind the locked wheels down. typically though while moving, you don't lock up more than one wheel

the current parking solution i have is to have a merge block replace the middle of the rear bumper (or similar area) so you can just back up and lock to a base, then pull the wheels up

keen really needs to fix the issue, especially with there being rover only servers that they could get plenty of bug reports from. what i've noticed is that certain shallow angles cause issues with how they collide with the ground and they sorta clip into it. i've seen that it's a bug that's been present for like, 3 years.

i'm still trying to figure out a more solid fix, but for now that's all the info i got

Glad you like it! :D Also that's an interesting workaround, gonna have to try that some time.

Unfortunately wheels getting stuck is an issue with the game engine itself. I have also noticed that wheels behave very differently when driving on armor blocks vs driving on interior blocks as well, like armor is fine but interior causes a really weird kind of friction that makes it harder to drive on.

absolutely love this thing- for whatever reason though the two front wheels (and likely others) get stuck for no apparent reason... that's not solely an issue with this one in particular, just a rover bug considering other grids seem to do it as well.

the easiest fix i found is just setting the safety detach as low as possible, so that when the wheel gets stuck in place, it just snaps off and the grid can move unhindered- you can just have the rover jump slightly and add a new wheel, then continue on your way after salvaging the severed one

posting about this so other people might have a fix in case this happens to them

Great work on this though, your whole WHI lineup is awesome!

So far, I am really enjoying this truck also.. It took me a bit to figure out why it was not pressurized.. I just assumed that with the door at the back, it would hold O2. After almost dying from suffocating, I noticed the ladder going through the roof. I about laughed myself out of my chair..I had looked everywhere, even checked the windows to make sure they were completed.. missing something so obvious just almost literally floored me... lol
After examination I was able to seal the cockpit area, add an O2 gen plus a vent and am now I can cruise in style without worrying about suffocating.

I learn something new every day. thanks. :)

That's a common message when using projectors and the grid have wheels, pistons or other sub-grid items on it, but there shouldn't be anything missing when doing a manual build other than the wheels since they are subgrids.

When building with a projector, it says only largest grid will be used. On the bigger truck, I just add the magnetic plates when done. What on this truck is missing when using a projector?
