Democratic Union of Earth (The Vega Wars)

Description
BACKGROUND

The DUE was the dominant power of the local systems throughout the 25th century. As of 2439, 22 fleets of various sizes were scattered across their territory, each protecting a single star system, with dozens of smaller squadrons patrolling more distant systems. They were stretched thin, and their navy had seen slow growth for some time. The greatest threat they had to face were simple pirates and raiders. In time however, they would face a series of wars that would change humanity forever, and the DUE would have to work with what they had as they desperately got their war machine back in action.

SHIPS AND STATIONS

Signum Class FTL Beacon:
The Signum is used as the primary in-system FTL beacon in DUE territory. They are almost always in the orbit of a planet, and are named after the planet.
ex. Mars Beacon

Commercium Trade Station:
Commercium Trade Stations are all throughout DUE space, and are the primary method of trade for the civilian ships of the DUE.
ex. Andonov Station

Tenura Trade Station:
The Tenura is a rare trade station in DUE space. They are far larger compared to the Commercium, but fulfill largely the same purpose.
ex. Odin Station

Navalia Shipyard:
The Navalia is the standard shipyard model used in DUE space. However, this model is generally used for maintenance rather than building.
ex. Maxton Shipyard

Caminus Refinery Station:
Caminus Refineries are an uncommon sight, but they are very valuable. They handle many of the raw materials discovered by mining teams and make something of them. They work with both civilians and military alike, and are vital to any war effort that the DUE attempts.
ex. Anvil Station

Terebro Class Mining Ship:
These small ships are the backbone of the mining industry. They often work in small packs to clear out resource rich areas of systems, before returning to a station or refinery to drop off their supplies. In some cases, they may also be employed as light freighters.
ex. MN-046

Onus Class Heavy Frieghter:
The Onus is a juggernaught supply ship, often used for the mass transfer of resources between star systems. A single fully loaded Onus can easily fill up much of the storage on a smaller trade station. As a result, they are high value targets for pirates, and often come with an escort.
ex. DUEN River Nile (FH-030)

Celeri Class Light Gunship:
The Celeri is a small, non FTL capable ship that is used for in-system security and escort missions. They may also serve with squadrons as additional gunships, or as recon.
ex. LG-117

Falco Class Heavy Gunship:
The Falco is a gunship meant to operate alongside warships. It is equipped with an FTL drive, and is one of the smallest ships in the DUE that has one. They generally do similar tasks to their Celeri counterparts.
ex. HG-092

Clypeus Class Cutter:
The Clypeus is a non FTL capable craft that is tasked with patrolling the star systems it operates in. They often work alongside Celeri Gunships in this role, and together do what tasks are needed of them.
ex. DUEN Pavise (WP-037)

Securis Class Destroyer:
The Securis is the mainline warship of the DUEN. Even to the smallest squadron on the edge of human space, there is at least one of these ships operating. They can act as the lead ship of smaller formations, or as a formation of their own as part of a larger force. They often do escort duties for heavier craft as well.
ex. DUEN Fable of Glory (DD-058)

Imber Class Cruiser:
The Imber is the heaviest ship fielded by the DUEN. They are the main ship in almost any formation they are in, and are often protected by an escort of gunships and destroyers. They are intended to take on any capital ship threat that may be too much for any smaller ship to handle.
ex. DUEN Throne of Olympus (CH-012)

ABOUT

The Vega Wars is a little side project of mine that I do in Cosmoteer. The ships are not realistic, and are mainly for story telling (or massive space battles). There are four organizations at play over the course of the conflicts, and I am hoping to give all of them a complete set of ships and stations.
