A sort of sequel-ish to my previous level, Cracked, with new, updated art and animations.




Welcome to Tokyo. The year is 2039, four years after the collapse of the New Soviet Union. In its wake, throngs of people emigrated in search of a new place to call home. With a declining population, massively growing economic power, and proximity to the former soviet Russia, Japan is a very appealing destination for many to end their journeys. Unfortunately, for the same reasons which Japan appeals to regular folk, it is also appealing to those of ill repute. Many smaller groups of former soviet criminal organizations have attempted and failed to gain a proper foothold within Japan, not in small part due to push-back and active targeting from both the government and local yakuza elements.

The yakuza, taking advantage of the incoming former soviet population and civil unrest from the sharp rise in crime, rose quite strongly in political power. They have also managed to extend their reach on the streets to the same degree with an uncharacteristically violent and indiscriminate campaign. With many of their enemies now dead or arrested, differences in ideology became clearer. These differences have caused fractures within the power structure of the yakuza. Politics and economic gain are now driving just as much infighting as they are driving fights between different gangs. In combination with such infighting, a massive rise in poverty within Japan driven by newer cutthroat practices of corporations has left many to live in glorified slums. This has opened the door for some to see the yakuza as a genuine threat to average life in a way not seen before, and many people are now choosing to fight back.

A derelict building stands somewhere on the outskirts of the city in the north, and even though the windows are boarded up, the lights are still on. Tattooed people frequently head in and out. A car known to be associated with yakuza strong-arm Fang has been seen parked there a number of times. This is our sign to get in there, and if its how it seems, spill some blood.
