Description

Main info:
This is my replica on ZIL-135L

First prototypes
Work in this area began in August 1955, when the first real result of SKB appeared - a prototype of a five-ton ZIS-E134 vehicle (Model No. 1), which resembled a regular ZIS-151 truck, placed on four evenly spaced axles. It was equipped with a forced 130-horsepower engine, a torque converter from an experienced city bus ZIS-155A, power steering, all single wheels with the same track and a system for regulating internal pressure in tires with external air supply.

ZIL-135/ZIL-135B2 (1958 – 1962)
Based on the results of testing the first test samples, Grachev came to the conclusion that it was necessary to reorient to a more efficient and practical concept of a four-axle all-terrain vehicle from his point of view. In October 1958, the first real embodiment of the “Grachev school” was the five-ton amphibian ZIL-135 with a round displacement hull.

Behind its cabin were two gasoline engines with a capacity of 130 hp. s., driving onboard transmissions with torque converters from the representative car ZIL-111 and chains of gearboxes for individual drive of the drive wheels and two water jets. Two hydraulic boosters were built into the steering mechanism, turning the front and rear pairs of wheels in different directions at the same angle. There was no wheel suspension. In the back there were seats for 20–30 landing troops. The maximum speed of the car on the highway was 55 km/h, afloat - 10 km/h.

ZIL-135E (1960 – 1962)
A positive result of the failure of missile amphibians was the unified eight-ton land vehicle-chassis ZIL-135E without elastic suspension, assembled in April 1960. For the first time, it featured two parallel 180-horsepower ZIL-375Ya gasoline engines and a forward-shifted three-seat fiberglass cabin with a now well-known streamlined shape, glued together with epoxy resin from 11 plastic panels. On its front wall there were three characteristic stampings for placing light devices and simulating a radiator grille, and to protect the windows, folding armored screens were attached to the short hood and roof. Fiberglass ensured that the cabins were resistant to open flames, high temperatures and exhaust pressure that arose during a rocket launch: it did not deform,

ZIL-135K/ZIL-135M (1960 – 1962)
The original concept, low cross-country ability and maneuverability of the 10.5-ton long-wheelbase ZIL-135K chassis without suspension, not designed for long-distance highway travel or terrain work, were dictated by the placement on it of cylindrical transport and launch containers (TPC) 12 m long with powerful high-precision cruise missiles.
