Zedd's Journey: "A Close Call"

The harsh blue daylight blasts through the windshield to amplify itself to a blinding glean as the air rushes in from the hole with tattered yarns of glass grasping onto it. It should feel cold, but you don't really feel anything, as your foot desperately sinks further into the floor.

You can hear muffled thumps punishing the car, and the pedal cries out as it twists from the added force. You glance quickly at the mirror in front of you, and what was once a mass of writhing red hands and fingers, suddenly becomes dark things moving in the past.

"♥♥♥♥ me that was close, one of those things almost ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bit me" you half scream to no one in particular; "...those stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mumbling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ff uu...".

Your voice isn't as lively as it once was. Your ears relished in the pure silence that came when the churn of industry stopped, but it was grateful for the frequent visits your voice was making. They used to be so jealous that your voice would visit other ears, they would seethe red and wriggle when they had to bear through other voices visiting. It knew that your voice made no sense, it didn't care, as long as your voice belonged to them and them alone.

Your voice stopped visiting though. Your ears didn't know why at first, but once they found out, the seething red quickly turned to an ashen grey as it shuddered at the thought of what should happen if your voice was too boisterous.

They hear something spurt and then creaking from in front of them. The rubbery dishplates coasting along the blacktop sag to the ground in a heave. Your eyes steal around looking for movement. Nothing but spiny emerald shards hanging from dark limbs waving goodbye to the passing sunlight.

A circle reveals itself around the gathering of towering figures. Your bag skrrts open and you toss the pile of rags on the ground, digging around amongst the hard yellow tangled hair of noodles, the green and blue cylinders and squishy little bears, until you finally find what you're looking for. You take the long brown things and stitch them together with the dirty white things, the dark figures around you murmuring to themselves in rustles at the sight of their brother.

Reaching behind into your waist bag, you take the silvery square. You strike the wheel, but there is no light. You strike again and again but the light will not come. You search for a blue cylinder. It makes no sloshing, there is no gas. Your shoulders hit the ground in defeat as the figures around you taunt you with their whispers.

The once enveloping light is fading even quicker as the cold and freezing night becomes you.

You realise you wrote something down that might help you in this situation. You mine your bag and find the blue journal with the word "Zedd" on the front.

This mod is based off a very ingenious survival trick for starting kindling and other fires. A survival and realism-friendly mod that tries to expand the game without breaking immersion.

• A single-use item made from empty gum wrappers and batteries that can be used in place of a lighter or matches and is used to light campfires, BBQ's, fireplaces, cigarettes and corpses. The battery is returned upon using it, and you will be able to make more using the same battery provided you have enough empty gum wrappers.

• A less versatile version of the Gum Strip Sparker made with Aluminium and Batteries, it is functionally the same but will not light cigarettes.

• You get 5 of these when you open a pack of gum. Each one can be eaten for -1 Hunger and -1 Happiness.

• The leftover material from eating a strip of gum.

• Gum can now be opened to create 5 Gum Strips.

• Neither item will light molotov cocktails as you can only currently light Molotov cocktails with the vanilla lighter. This is a change Indie Stone are trying to push in a future update. All else being the same,
  it should work seamlessly once they push the update.

The figures are bathed in orange as you reach into the pit and create a spark with the green cylinder and strip of aluminium. A steady warmth from the fire makes you feel a little more whole again. Maybe with enough time in front of the flames you'll head back into that town, for now, you lay your head down on the now warm dirt and lose yourself to the infinite void of sleep.
