Description
Lore: “I’m telling you there’s no way those new Atmodians are ready yet.” A tech tried to argue with Darius. “A good engineer is always a bit conservative on paper, trust me they’ll hold.” Darius countered. “Sir I really don’t think this is a good idea.” The tech protested again. “Yeland and I designed these things with further refinement being done by Aleena and Phaze. I trust my people. On the chance something goes wrong I plan to be the one test flying the new craft myself.” Darius informed.

Later that evening Darius was sitting in the cockpit of the new Atmopiercer craft and fired up the engines. Aleena, Phaze, Captain Blade, and Lt Kaol were watching out the window of the command tower on base while Yeland kept watch on various consoles behind them monitoring the vital stats of the fighter. The initial speed and banking tests performed well. Then it was time for the weapons tests. A few test drones were released simulating known pirate tactics. Darius was able to flatten most of the drones easily enough with the new weapons. During the test something went wrong and a drone fired a live round past him. It appeared the drone had been tampered with. Phaze darted to his own fighter but doubted he could get there in time. Darius tried to shake the drone off but couldn’t. However his combat ceiling was higher than the drones and there was only one way to get ahead of it. Darius pulled up hard as the drone followed. Around 7 kilometers the drone sputtered out but hadn’t began to fall yet. Darius kicked his craft up to 8.5 kilometers just out of the weapons range of the drone. Both craft began to fall from the sky as the nose of Darius’s fighter was pointed straight down. Yeland tried to shut off the drone but got no response from the command computer.

Aleena’s worry for her friend was written all over her face. Captain Blade wrapped an arm around her to assure her it would be alright. “Don’t worry, he’s been in worse situations than this.” Captain Blade said. At last Darius got a lock on the drone and fired, obliterating it in the air. Some debris lodged itself in some of the atmodians causing them to stall out. Darius aimed the craft at a landing strip and was losing altitude fast. He hit the strip hard and the landing gears failed causing the craft to skid to a stop near the end of the runway. Phaze landed next to him a moment later and soon could be seen helping the other seasoned pilot free. Miraculously Darius suffered no injuries from the incident. Cheers erupted in the room as the good news was reported. Not exactly how they planned to test the new craft but it worked. Soon Atmopiercers were a mainstay of the Boxer Squadron’s Atmo wing.

Notes: This craft was meant to replace my vanilla Boxer Fighter Atmo craft which has definitely begun to show its age. While it more than did what I needed it to at the time, it was well past its prime and I had pushed the design about as far as I could. The original Boxer fighter was created long ago when I got shot down over pirate territory. I scavenged what I could and made a cheapo fighter that was a mix of hydrogen, atmo, and even the odd ion thruster or two to get me back to base at the time. How it flew I don’t know. Instead of scrapping the thing outright, I kept the frame and made it the basis of my Boxer line of craft. The Boxer Squadron is meant to be a pure combat oriented squadron of the Phantom Elite Division. Their craft are meant for heavy fighting and to hit things hard and fast.
Craft are meant to look boxy in honor of the original Boxer fighter, and to annoy a friend of mine who hates box shaped craft. Due to heavier weight of craft compared to the AtmoDork, this craft was labeled a heavy fighter. AtmoDork is a bit faster, but the Atmopiercer is able to pull more maneuvers and fly at angles the AtmoDork can’t. If you want a nice heavy atmo fighter using my 2125 tech, look no further. Comes equipped with latest xabrium power, atmodian thrusters with higher combat ceiling than vanilla atmos, along with reinforced weapons. Full features below.

Fighter is made with Duramax Light Armor shell with Duramax Medium and original heavy variants reinforcing certain parts of craft. cargo bays come loaded with some reserve ammo, ice, uranium and xabrium along with some tools and weapons, an oxygen bottle, and hydrogen bottle for those who wish to spawn the craft in. Craft is capable of holding altitude in all directions when at complete stop except for upside down.

-1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 9th action bars already programmed. Fighters reactors are set not to use the conveyor system by default and will need to be cycled on if folks want them to pull uranium and xabrium fuel. this was done to prevent them from eating all the reserve fuel at once.

-apparently I underestimated how much clearance the turret would need to not hit the connector. i have raised the turret up a block and put a bit of armoring around the connector to fix the issue. I apologize for the issues with the bp as of late.
