Description
Adds a trait to start the game with a Cold.

Includes sandbox options to set the starting intensity of the Cold, plus the option to make it permanent. If Infinite Cold is enabled, your Cold intensity can never fall below the specified level. The trait is removed after having 0 cold intensity for 1 in-game hour.

By default, intensity is 100 and permanence is disabled.

The Moodle breakpoints for the intensity is the following:
>20 = Runny Nose
>40 = The Sniffles
>60 = You Have A Cold
>80 = You Have A Nasty Cold

Max intensity is 100.

You start the game with a cold.

If you think this trait does not give enough points, you can give yourself extra points to compensate by choosing Custom Sandbox, clicking the Character tab, and changing the Free Trait Points value to your desired amount. It also accepts negative values if you think this trait gives too many points.

Is this trait mod (seemingly) broken for anyone else? I just can't seem to lose the cold I have after starting the game using this trait. I do not have the checkbox for infinite cold ticked and I've done all the usual stuff like staying warm inside and just eating well for like a whole in-game week and it hasn't moved from the highest level of cold moodle at all. The only thing I haven't tried is the Common Mallows.

I think sandbox settings only update when you restart the game in all cases due to how the game functions. I don't know if I can do anything about it.

Ah yes, a minor oversight and an easy fix. Thanks for letting me now. The Infinite Cold setting now works properly as a minimum value.

hey wow thank you so much for doing that! I really appreciate it! I did some testing on single player with the mod Sandbox Options that allows you to change Sandbox options while in-game and it does not update the permanent settings immediately, but it did once I restarted the game just to let you know.

additionally something i've discovered is that with the permanent option on; the cold may never get better than the threshold but it also never gets worse. so setting the option to 20, your cold will not get worse if you are outdoors in the cold for extended period. i infact began freezing to death and my cold never went above 20.

Yes, the function was only called at the start of the game. I updated it to apply the effect whenever the trait exists, and to remove the trait automatically when sickness reaches 0. It should work for your purpose now.

I tried out the mod in hopes applying the trait in admin to someone (or myself) mid-game would give a person a cold, but it just applies the trait with no moodle. I help run a dedicated server, and being able to apply illnesses to players is a dream.

otherwise testing it without trying to apply the illness mid-game, the trait did give me a bad cold when i started the game with it.
