Nihongo Mastery Collection

This is a Japanese to English Character Quiz Pack that tests and hopefully improves your Kana proficiency through its Hiragana & Katakana Modules. The pack also features a Shiritori Module, a word game demanding an intermediate to advanced grasp of Japanese.

The shiritori module employs the latest version (as of 14/10/23) of the JMdict-EDICT Dictionary Project, available here: http://www.edrdg.org/wiki/index.php/JMdict-EDICT_Dictionary_Project.

It offers a caching system to reduce loading times by loading a pre-generated word list. This feature is disabled by default but can be activated in mod settings. Generating the entire word list may take up to 30 seconds, while loading the cache typically takes about 5 seconds. These durations are specific to the module and are not influenced by individual PC specs or other modules.

May add more in the future.

Developed for more solo and educational purposes.
Includes a cheeky speed run timer for all modules for the extra dedicated.

I've sent a friend request to your discord. Just would like to provide some info I gathered and say a couple words about the new changes. My username is TheBamaofIsaac Q.M. at the moment, but I do change it quite often. The tag "Q.M." will still tie to the end though, so hopefully that will help with locating me.

The new module has been released and the bug you mentioned earlier has been squashed.

I have also added the secret keyword I mentioned into Hiragana & Katakana that adds a lot more smaller characters into the mix. I won't implement this into the manual but it is there for the hardcore players.
The secret keyword is "ext" (short for extra) and will only work on stage 1.
It also increases the stage count to 10.
There is a small indicator that notifies you of a successful transition to this "easter-egg" mode.
Just be cautious when using this as there is no going back.

Thank you for the report. I've fixed this bug. I'm getting close to a new addition into the pack and will release the fix with the new module.

As for the solve elongate, I will explore other options if they are open to me but for the time being, I find it fitting.

I am also planning on releasing an "easter-egg" type-keyword that both Hiragana & Katakana will accept which will add in the smaller characters in some way; I am still in a planning phase for that at the moment but the groundwork has been laid for when I start implementing that idea.

I've also noticed that with some contracted sounds if you type only the first two letters, it counts it as correct (i.e. if you type "gy" for "ぎゃ", it would count it as correct)

I find the new solve animation interesting, however, not a fan of how it elongates the time it takes for the bomb timer to stop counting down and how it only stops once the animation is finished and "solved" shows up.

There was a consideration in adding the small characters but I decided against it as most players are non-native speakers and these could be considered ambiguous to those who are unfamiliar.
In the future, I may add onto this pack with a third module that could accompany these missed characters. The overall goal of this development was to teach and make familiar these characters to those who are interested or even studying like yourself. I am glad you like the modules, good luck in your studies.

Was just playing to test the accuracy and I can say that it is certainly well made. Only thing I wish would be included is small vowels for foreign pronunciations (ァィゥェォ) just for further practice sake. Overall, great mod.
