The Fall of Rome

The grandest empire the world has ever seen was neither built nor destroyed in a single day. The process of disintegration and collapse suffered by Rome, took place over more than five centuries (and indeed can trace its roots to the very start of the empire). The lack of a workable constitution and mechanism for the transfer of power; the corruption of the army; the dissipation of the economy - were some of the many contributing elements in the Empire's slide to chaos.

The Fall of Rome game casts the player in the role of emperor and presents them with all of the major problems to deal with as best they can using the Legions and the economic clout of Rome. In effect, the player pits themselves against a "system" filled with barbarians, marauding Persians, internal revolution and army rebellion. Moving Legions (by land and sea) across a map of the Empire, the player fights year-by-year to hold Rome together in spite of enemies external and internal. Six scenarios provide action spanning the centuries.
