California's Coast Line V 1

Description
You've been wanting this for a while.

California Coast Line V. 1

The Layout

This is the first edition of California's Coast Line. It covers Los Angeles Union Station to Mission Tower. It includes a huge amount of detail and it is intensely prototypical. This first part has a highly detailed skybox, a switchboard for Union Station and Mission Tower. It also features the iconic Metro Building, and even a bit of LA Metro Rail's A Line. You can transport businesspeople on the way to their work via Metrolink, take locals up and down the A Line in LA Metro's P865 Light Rail Vehicle, or you can take families on day trips to San Diego on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner. This map features automatic roads, AI trains, full lighting, and more.

AI Services

There are a few AI services on the layout. First you have AMTK Maintenance service #9203. This service goes from the storage tracks to the north of LAUPT and continues to Metrolinks CMF (Unmodeled), then returns later. This service typically consists of AMTK 737 (SW1) and AMTK 599 (CF7), both of which are assigned to the Los Angeles area. Then, you have Pacific Surfliner Train #770 departing from Union Station bound for Glendale, Burbank, Van Nuys, and more. It continues up the line, then returns later using the same consist (An F59PHI, 5 Surfliner cars and a Cab Car.) carrying the number 777. Then you have Metrolink 300 bound for San Bernardino via the San Bernardino Line. It departs LAUPT from Track 3, then returns to Los Angeles as train 301. It consists of an F59PH, 5 Bi-Level cars, and a Bi-Level cab. Then you have SCAX maintenance train 603. This train transports ballast cars from Union Station Track 13 in the early morning to Metrolink's Keller Yard. This train consists of an F59PHI, SCAX 800, and numerous ballast cars and a leased Kyson Industries. It also returns later in the evening.

IMPORTANT:
If you don't want to mess up the AI services, don't go on tracks where they operate. If you want to tell where they operate, look at the color of the ties. If it's wood (brown), you can operate on it. If It's concrete (gray), don't go on it. At the end of the layout, there are labels that say one of 3 things. Either " AI Track ", which means a track operated on by AI service, " Player Track ", which means you can operate trains on it AND in and out of the station & " Storage Tracks ", which means you can store trains on it, but don't go past the platforms, as you may run in to AI service.

Lighting

The map features full lighting, and can be controlled by a desk near Vignes St. Full instructions on how to operate the lighting system in game. Follow the in-game instructions or the lighting system will get messed up.

Things to do:
  • Finish the skybox on the other side of the freeway behind LAUPT
  • Finish road system

Intro to the Coast Line

Southern California's Coast Line is very much home turf for me, so modeling this will hopefully be pretty easy. My plan is to model all the way down to San Diego, releasing the map in bits as I build it.

Good question @Wvumellosax. There will be local freights around places where there are industries (LA & San Diego mainly) , but no AI through freights (because of track constrains) , but I will set consists for players to do that.

is this going to be passenger oriented, or will there be local freight?
