Description
Speedhunters is a mod that implements a 1v3 player-vs-player game-mode to Barony.
The premise of the mod is that one player, who is always the host will be the runner, and every other player is a hunter, where there can be up to three are hunters.
The goal of the Runner is to get through levels as quickly as possible while maximising their equipment, and XP as quickly as possible, while the goal of the Hunter(s) is to kill the Runner, while denying the Runner as much as they can along the way.

Mod version, Beta V0.7 | Intended for Game versions after V4.1.
Please report any and all bugs, issues, and map errors in the bug-reporting thread.

To fulfill this purpose, all Spawn-Rooms, Secret Areas, Intermissions, and Boss Arenas are changed in their design philosophy to better suit a competitive environment.

Every spawnroom now starts with gates that prevent the Runner and Hunters from being attacked, and all Hunters are released when the Runner leaves through the spawn gate, but watch out! The hunters can use tricks to escape their confines early!

Spawnrooms
The Runner will always spawn in the usual spawnrooms in every map and secret area, and is prompted with either a lever or gate they must walk up to to start the map, with few exceptions, while the Hunters in most maps will spawn locked in a cage until the Runner starts the floor, at which point a roaring sound is heard and the message "Let the hunt begin!!" is displayed in chat.

Once this message is played, all bets are off and the Runner should be on their way!

Secret Areas
In secret areas, except for the Underworld and Hell, the Hunters and Runner will spawn in separate spawn rooms far away from eachother to create secrecy in where either party may be at any time, this allows the Hunters to start setting up traps and planning out their routes and methods to catch the Runner, while the Runner is left to themself and their own devices to survive!

Gameplay Mechanics
XP Modifiers
While the Speedhunters mod is enabled, no players will share XP from killing enemies unless they are within the same tile as each-other. This means if the Runner kills a troll, the Hunters will not level up from this event.

Map Modifiers
On all maps, the map is hidden for ALL players, neither the Runner nor Hunters will know where anyone else is on the map, and it is up to keeping track of directions and landmarks to not get lost in the dungeons!
Please ensure every player has disabled player nametags in their settings for optimal gameplay.

The Recommended Rules
Here is a recommended set of house-rules before you start playing, some of these are required while others are optional, rules that are required will be marked with a Dagger (†).
  • Friendly Fire must be on. †
  • Keep Player Inventories on Death must be on. †
  • Each player must turn off Display Player Nametags in their settings. † (This rule cannot be enforced via in-game json or map design.)
  • The Runner is not allowed to cheese spawnrooms, and must always trigger the "Let the hunt begin!!" message on every level, or a message of similar verbiage. † (This rule cannot be enforced via in-game json or map design.)

Additionally, it may be good to come up with your own rules surrounding how level exits are handled, such as if every hunter must use /die or die from the pause menu, or if a truce is activated on level exit pinging by the Runner, since this behaviour cannot currently be modified in game.

Optionally, you can also have more than one Runner if a Hunter wishes to be a secondary Runner, however this preference is not supported well in-game, and would rely on further house-rules.
