Description
Gear and flap panel with optional failure simulation


Features:
  • Animated gear lever
  • Configurable gear lever safety locks

I tried to make this thing feel realistic and work with a wide variety of aircraft but also be approachable. The demo setup is made to show a basic integration into an aircraft to make it easy to understand and try out. It's just a glorified button.

The example build uses a distance sensor and a threshold gate for the gear lockout. You can just omit this if you don't need it or make your own trigger logic. Best squat switch simulation wins a cookie.

A lot of features are optional and configurable with MC properties. They should explain themselves, look through them.




Flexible MC

Resize the MC and use only the logic nodes you want. The composite input features all standard inputs and more.



I configured the MC to only use standard nodes required for primary features. Configure to your hearts desire.

The purple MC to the right is a Composite converter that's set-up to test all composite input channels should you want to test them out. Just connect it to the main MC's composite input.

Note: "Gear Transit" overwrites "Gear Down" indicator inputs

Bools:
1-3: Gear Indicator Down (Green) Left,Front,Right 4-6: Gear Indicator Transit (Yellow) Left,Front,Right 7: Systems Power 8: Gear Squat Switch (Lockout active) 9: Reset all Failures 10: Generate Random Failure

Numbers:
1: Flaps, 2: Add Failure by Code

Either composite or standard nodes can be used - bool OR logic, numbers summed
The manual gear indicator inputs are only active when selected via property and still subject to failures if enabled.



Failure Simulation

Disabled as standard, choose a maximum failure delta time larger than 1 minute to enable. Minimum delta time is constant at 60 seconds.
The gear indicators can fail in 3 different sates. The state is randomized again when resetting failures via bool or composite input.

The tooltips of the MC show the current configuration and active failures.

Failure Codes
Codes are added together by Bitwise OR logic. Failure Code 5 means Failures 1 and 4. Failure code output is the sum of all active failure codes.

  • 01 : Left Gear Indicator
  • 02 : Front Gear Indicator
  • 04 : Right Gear Indicator
  • 08 : Gear Up
  • 16 : Gear Down
  • 32 : Gear Lockout / Lucky dud
  • 64 : Flap Indicator

The nodes grouped on the right are optional, only the five at the bottom left are necessary.
You have an insanely cool workshop, I would love to be friends and discuss WW2 equipment, if that's not too abrupt?

@Bassalicious, a friend of mine just finished modifying the controller so that it only has two gear indicators, here it is:

@Bassalicious, Thanks! For the time being, I will connect the middle gear indicator to the brake light, and leave everything else as is. I will take note of the swapped labels, thanks for the heads up.

@NittyGritty yeah of course, no worries. that's a feature I might implement in a future patch too.
Also: I noticed a bug where composite labels are swapped between left and front indicators. be aware the order should be "left, front, right". will patch in an update very soon.

finally, at least someone came up with the idea to make a normal landing-aerobatic device in stormworks (display in the case of stormworks)
