[TB&B] 39CC Tolduei | Light Tank

Description
!!! Press on the touch screen monitor to traverse the gun !!!

The larger they are, the harder they fall. With that being said...

A rather unassuming light tank designed by Cirillo & Sons on behalf of the Hungarians who would domestically produce them, in this example operated by the German occupational forces as a scout tank / infantry support vehicle.

Many tanks developed and used throughout the war would never be particularly important or unique in their designs, with the 39CC Tolduei being no exception, though this particular tank would seem to have an endearing reputation among the Axis, with them colloquially nicknaming them 'Tobi', in an EXTREMELY rare show of humanity. When captured German soldiers were questioned as to why this specific vehicle received a nickname, the interrogators were unable to get any clear or coherent answer, with most of them devolving into utter untranslatable gibberish.

The 39CC Tolduei would see quite a bit of combat considering its relatively small production run (only around 200), and would prove to be a shockingly effective tool against the guerilla warfare strategies employed by the Banished rebel group. The exceptional speed of the Tolduei allowed it to keep up with even armoured cars, of which it would frequently use to exploit gaps in the enemies' lines and show up in unexpected places to attack rearward units such as logistics or artillery. While the Banished generally didn't conform to typical 'battle lines', this strategy of lightning fast harassment would still prove to be bothersome enough to the Banished to garner a reputation as a small but dangerous vehicle.

Where the Tolduei would fall short is direct combat. It could hold its own against equally sized and armed vehicles, though it would heavily struggle to penetrate the armour of anything larger, and would be unable to survive even glancing blows from larger sized weapons. The 20mm anti-tank gun and 8mm machine gun mounted in the turret were much better suited to eliminating enemy infantry and towed-guns.

"Nothing causes me quite as many headaches as those little things. Partisan warfare is a hell of a lot easier when your enemy isn't fighting like rats as well."
-Anonymous Banished strategic commander, during an interview with an underground press network

Stats & Equipment:

  • Top speed: 60 Km/H Forwards, 8 Km/H Backwards

  • Crew: 3 (Driver, Gunner, Radio Operator)

  • Primary Armament: 1x Cirillo & Sons ATR8 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle (LAC, 200rnds)

  • Secondary Armament(s): 1x Cirillo & Sons MG33 (MG, 1100rnds)

  • Other: N/A

  • Difficulty For Use In Multiplayer: Expert (Extremely weak cannon, slow turret traverse, and poor gunner visibility offset with high vehicle speed and driver visibility. Absolutely zero survivability)

Operation Instructions & Pointers:

  • As stated before, the gun traversal is done via pressing on the monitor as if it was a touch screen. This was done to allow for fitting full functionality of vehicles into a smaller space, and it allows for a unique degree of control when operating the vehicle. Depending on how close to the centre of the screen you press, you can traverse the gun faster or slower, allowing you to make finer movements when needed.

  • Good coordination is required between gunner & driver, as the turret traverses very slowly and must be supplemented by the driver rotating the hull. On top of this, the driver has great visibility out of the tank, but the gunner really can't see much besides their scope, so more often than not the driver is going to be in charge of spacial awareness.

  • The best strategy in our experience for this tank is to flank the enemy, either to draw the attention of the enemy tanks to open them up to your teammates to counter attack, or to run past the enemy to destroy their support units such as field guns or artillery.

  • His name is Tobi! We all love him! (everyone but the rebel players)
