Infinite Borders

Description
This mod attempts to modify the border shader to try and mimic the shader used by Star Trek: Infinite. The result is a border which has a soft black edge around the periphery.

In addition to mimicking this effect, this mod also does the following:

  • Swaps primary and secondary colours
  • Makes the border (both on empire and sectors) slightly thinner

This only modifies the border.shader file so will be achievement compatible. I am actually using the mod myself so will try to keep this updated. But everyone is free to fork off this as they wish. The current version has been tested with 4.0.2.

As you can tell from the screenshot, this is also compatible with Star Trek: New Civilisations.

Love this mod but having cyan inverted into the empire itself makes it impossible to find your fleets or ships. Maybe change cyan to be a bit darker?

I hadn't realised Stellaris had changed its version numbering scheme, so updated that. As this only affects the border shader, as long as they never do any major overhaul to how borders are rendered it should work without any major updates

Works in 3.12 Machine Age.

Sike! I was thinking this makes the borders continue into Infinity rather than stop at some unreasoned distance which they do otherwise.

I actually love this. Really gives the game an updated and fresh look.

no issues just asking if anyone else had one, lately many of my games end in crashing on same date (probably a mega shipyard mod not this one) so i have been extra particular about what mods i use

@youtubitz - what issues are you having? I've been testing with 3.10 and it looks like it's working fine on my end?

it looks amazing!
thanks for your work
I'm even curious why the developers don't do something like this themselves
