Subworks Passive Sonar Waterfall Display

Beskrivelse
Passive Sonar Waterfall Display by Pufferfish & Subworks

Features

  • Custom Baffles
  • Optional noise simulation. Noise increases with vehicle speed and decreases with depth.
  • Contact designation for outputting contact bearing and elevation
  • Time interval selection: 30s, 90s and 15min intervals.
  • Southlock option for better orientation

Noteworthy

The Fluid meter is used to check if the sonar is in water or not. Outside of water, it will not work.
Signal to Noise Ratio property changes the density and Brightness of the simulated noise. If you don't want the noise to increase with vehicle speed, just disconnect the speed sensor.

Works on any Monitor size, however I do not recommend using it on a 1x1 Monitor due to the small size of it. Furthermore, when using it on larger or multiple monitors, I recommend turning off the noise simulation because it can cause significant lag.

Check out the Active Sonar Display as well:

Hope you enjoy, feel free to ask questions, report bugs or just give feedback in the comments!

Updates:

11/08/23 - Fixed Issue where contact is not drawn on screen when it's near the edge of the monitor. Added optional Noise Simulation
07/16/24 - Added compensation for different orientations so that bearing angles stay accurate when rolling / pitching, etc. Also removed the speed sensor and compass and replaced them with a physics sensor.

The Vertical on the sonar i can't figure out on how to use it, it seem not not work with the dial,i have the bearing done but the vertical i can't figure out on how or why it wont work

Hey, the patterns don't actually mean anything, they're generated randomly. If you have the speed and depth sensor hooked up to the controller, they will get denser as you get closer to the surface or go faster. This is to simulate increased noise generated by the own propeller.

I know its kind of a dumb question but, how do you use this thing? Like what do the patterns actually mean? I built my first sub and i am trying to find a good sonar:steamthumbsup:

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback Tesla, Maverick and Maxim! If you guys have any suggestions I‘d love to be able to improve this system.

Hey there! Also a sonar tech! Just wanted to pop in and say how badass this is!
random guy from the internet 11. nov. 2023 kl. 8:16
does it work with the large sonar?
Maxim the Field Medic 11. nov. 2023 kl. 2:45
as an actual sonar tech, you have made me very happy. got back from an underway and the first thing I see is the stormworks sonar system of my dreams.
